What an incredible human! Jordan Adams just ran the London marathon with a 25kg fridge strapped to his back to raise money for frontotemporal dementia. He ran alongside his brother. The fridge represents the invisible weight people carry that nobody else can see. Their mum Geraldine was diagnosed with FTD at just 47. She's one of 12 family members they've lost to the disease. Two years after losing her, both brothers found out they carry the MAPT gene mutation. A 99.9% chance they'll both be diagnosed with FTD themselves. They'll likely become symptomatic in their early 40s. Today they're in Ireland beginning 32 more marathons across all 32 counties together. They've already raised nearly £500,000.  They want to reach a million.

Japanese star Kazuma Okamoto introduced a new tradition on his new team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Before every game, players stand in a circle and share what they are grateful for. It's now one of the best traditions in Major League Baseball.

The Raiders have signed "The Tokyo Toe" Kansei Matsuzawa, a Japanese kicker who spent 3 years working at a Morton's Steakhouse in Tokyo while teaching himself to kick a football by watching YouTube videos. He could become the first Japanese player on an NFL roster.

Every training camp I had at Washington State University, Coach Leach would share the same story. The story of two kids. The rich kid and the poor kid. The rich kid has two choices. He can become spoiled, entitled, lazy, and expect everything to be handed to him because he has been given more. Or he can take every advantage of what he has been given—resources, coaching, opportunities—and use it to become even better. The poor kid has two choices too. He can say, “I never had a chance. Nobody gave me anything. The world is against me.” He can feel sorry for himself and use it as an excuse. Or he can say, “I may not have what they have, but I am going to outwork everybody.” He can become tougher, more driven, and more relentless than everybody else. It was a powerful message in a locker room full of people from different backgrounds, different families, and different life experiences. Some guys came from wealth. Some came from almost nothing. Some had every opportunity. Others had to fight for every inch. But despite all of those differences, everybody still had the same choice. You can take ownership and use what you have as fuel. Or you can become victim-minded. You can look for excuses, blame your circumstances, become entitled, and convince yourself that because of what you have—or because of what you do not have—you cannot become what you want to be. It is not about how you start. It is about what you choose to do with how you start. The rich kid can waste what he has been given or use it to build something greater. The poor kid can use his circumstances as an excuse or as fuel. In the end, greatness does not come from starting with more or less. It comes from which person inside of you that you choose to feed. In Tokyo, there's a cleaning crew that does the impossible every 12 minutes. They're called TESSEI. They clean the Shinkansen bullet trains at Tokyo Station. When a train arrives, it stops for 12 minutes before departing again. Two minutes for passengers to exit. Three more for the next batch to board. That leaves seven. In those seven minutes, one person must: - Clean 100 seats - Wipe every tray table - Vacuum the floor - Rotate every seat to face the new direction of travel - Replace all headrest covers - Check the overhead bins - Bow to incoming passengers Seven. Minutes. They do this hundreds of times a day. Harvard Business School published a case study about them. The New York Times called it "the 7-minute miracle." Tourists now stand on the platform just to watch. Before they start, they bow to the train. When they finish, they line up and bow to the passengers. They're paid by the hour. Many are in their 50s and 60s. Japan didn't invent cleaning. They invented the dignity of doing small things perfectly.

1978, 22-year-old science teacher Pat Moriarty told his earth science class in Webster, New York, about the total solar eclipse coming on April 8, 2024—46 years later. He promised to host a watch party in his yard if they returned, passed out worksheets with the date circled, and repeated the invitation to classes for years. His students laughed, thinking it was a wild idea. When the day arrived, he hoped a few might show up. Instead, more than 100 former students travelled from across the country, bringing lawn chairs, snacks, champagne, and old yearbooks. They gathered in his front yard to share the three minutes of totality together. The teacher was deeply moved by their loyalty and the lasting impact of that simple promise.

Nightlife in nyc is shifting from alcohol-induced socializing to activities that combine connection with intellectual interest. Out: clubbing, drinking games, bars without themes. In: lectures at bars, philosophy clubs, board game nights, reading meetups. Gen Z'ers are paying $40 a ticket to attend these things. Someone is going to build a massive platform aggregating these activities for the next generation.
