I see alot of "just play box" in response to 6s. I like the box game better than sixes but for youth/developing countries few areas have rinks(never mind time in them), every town has grass. all comes down to the dollar & box is more cost prohibitive at the youth level currently.

There is a lot to like about “Sixes” but the game is simply not fair for the goalies. Call it “box on grass” if you like with the very significant difference being goalies padded properly in front of a smaller net. Hard to imagine a young goalie aspiring to play in this game.

@RyanFlanagan24 Don’t mind going over the head there. Help was literally right next to him and should’ve actually made a play on the ball (although I hate adjacent slides). If on-ball whiffs, adjacent should crush carrier who’s exposed. Bottom line, that “show” from adjacent was hella weak.

The athletes weren’t as big, fast, strong or skilled in 1989. The stick technology wasn’t anything close to what it is today. Collison is 6’4” 225lbs and running at the defenders top hand. Come on. You go over the head here and it’s a goal. Come on.

This wouldn't have been a goal in a 1989 Hopkins-Carolina game. The dman woulda gone right over his head and the ball would be on the ground.

@joshlax21 @LaxFilmRoom Yes- but point is- the coaches can tell him to either start drawing a double and move the ball- or keep shooting… If he’s shooting that much it means they believe in him, or he’d be told to stop. No one knows whether the ball is going in or not. Shooters shoot!

@FusionLax @LaxFilmRoom I’m pretty confident you talk to any high level coach they would tell you they aren’t a fan of anyone shooting 15 shots at a 7% shooting clip. He’s only a freshman and I think he will be a great player but you have to be more disciplined when playing at that level.

@LaxFilmRoom He’s going to be a good player down the line but taking 15 shots as a freshman isn’t the right move either. It’s high level college lacrosse and not high school anymore and he’s going to have to adapt and change the way he plays a little bit until he’s gets his footing.

@RyanFlanagan24 Sure… If I had 1k to spend on training a box program/team is not a bad choice. Depends on the program of course. More box leagues with training would be great to see and more affordable

@FusionLax I didn’t say box was bad. There are certainly benefits of any type of training and playing. I also don’t think you can say “cost aside” because that’s a big factor. It can be really expensive in some situations… Which is why I identified the $1000 elite box 4th grade travel team

Think about that next time you hear someone say a 4th grader has to pay $1000 for an elite box travel team for the “development”
