i know this upsets people but let me try to shed light on the dynamics, hopefully it’s helpful at a previous role i spent a lot of time hiring sometimes we’d get two people who performed similarly in the process but one was at a much earlier stage in their career sometimes we’d hire both and it was a lot easier to motivate the person who was earlier on since career aspirations were still a big part of their life it’s hard not to ask the question why both these people are seeking to do similar day to day work when one has much more experience when hiring people do consider future trajectory and the reality is they are turned off if there seems to be a plateau i don’t know what the answer is but might be helpful to be aware of this
