@_utilitysports Houston clearly tanked to get those picks including sitting John Wall. This would have been the right result.

When you look at this, you realize how dumb this proposal is 2021 Houston drafts Jalen Green 2022 Houston drafts Jabari Smith Jr. 2023 Houston now cannot own a top 5 pick and they are exiled from the chance at Victor Wembanyama because they had other previous draft picks? It makes no sense
Tom Haberstroh@tomhaberstroh

Interesting provision: "no team would be able to win three consecutive top-five picks" Would have prevented: Spurs (Wemby, Castle, Harper) Pistons (Cade, Ivey, Ausar, Holland) Cavs (Mobley, Garland, Okoro) Rockets (Green, Jabari, Amen, Reed)

There will be plenty of time to relitigate the KD trade in the coming weeks, but I’m guessing the fact that he decided to get “treatment” on his ankle for 3 hours in the middle of the most important game of the year is a pretty good sign he’s on a different team next year, right?

@RedNinetyFour Honestly if the thought process is that this is a “lost” season and more of a developmental one, then I can get behind stress testing amen at point. Unfortunately I don’t agree with the punting of a season, and I view reed as more important for development so…

100% this. I supported it at the start to give it a look but once it became clear it was beyond the realm of his abilities, they should have pulled the plug. I get wanting to stress test a player’s limits to force growth, but I think you also have to look at the detriment to the rest of the team. They obviously felt strongly about it given they stuck with it until April, and all the puff pieces that went out in the media about how well he was doing.
Ben Pelletier@bpbone

@RedNinetyFour @RooshWilliams The Amen-at-point is what has submarined the season more than anything (outside of losing FVV and Adams obviously)

@JamCristopher Put harden on this team instead of Durant and they contenders. He just ain’t him. People say he fits any team but that’s not true.

I’m not even mad at the outcome of the game. I’ve been emotionally zoned out for a while now. There is no coach in history that is solving for a team shooting 8% from 3, 33% from the FT line, with 13 live ball turnovers.

@RedNinetyFour I can only speak for myself, but I enjoyed last season and the season before that WAY more than this season. If we kept KD and traded our young guys because locker room issues I’d watch another team. If any of this is true I wouldn’t wanna support a KD type team. 🥸🤷‍♂️

Simmons and Chris Ryan had a really good segment on the KD Files in the latest episode. Simmons was speculating that—if the burner really was KD—whether the Rockets would have to trade him in the offseason. My take on this is that—if the burner was KD—he’s still too damn good to trade. This is a top 10-15 player and it’s unlikely any of these “young core” guys are ever as good as he is right now. I feel bad for Jabari but, I think largely the team would move on and forget about this whole thing. The soft reset option is a Giannis trade anyway (meaning moving Sengun and Jabari out), not a KD trade. I think KD retires here.

@RooshWilliams @don_dougan Your point is that if you pull the 8 game size to a "random" 23 game sample size it justifies your perception that he isn't good. Yet if you expand that sample size his numbers look solid. So what is your point.

22-year-old Jabari Smith Jr went through a horrible 8 game slump from 1/3-1/16. In the other 44 games (85% of the season) he's been pretty damn good. 15.8 ppg 59.1% TS 56.1% eFG 46.4% fg 38.7% 3s 54.1% 2s 80.9% ft Perception is not always reality.

@don_dougan This is not true. I just pulled a random 23-game sample from December 18 to January 29 where he shot 40% FG, 33% 3P and 49% eFG. Whoever initially spun this as a mere 8-game slump was certainly doing some spin.

This OKC ring gotta be one of the least impressive in recent memory. -Ja injured and out in round one -beat a thin Nuggets team in 7 who had two starters injured -beat the Pacers in 7 with Haliburton injured and out in game 7 -favorable whistle on both ends the entire post season

This championship could be the start of a dynasty for the Thunder. -Picks at #15, #24, and #44 this week -Every player is under contract next year -Up to four firsts next year (Sixers if 5-30, Jazz if 9-30, two most favorable of OKC, HOU, and LAC) -Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be only 27. Jalen Williams only 24. Chet Holmgren only 23. Thunder GM Sam Presti already has a dominant 68-win roster that's the youngest champion since the 1977 Blazers. And more assets than any team in the NBA to keep tweaking the roster to withstand the challenges of the new CBA. Of course, there are no guarantees. Windows can close as fast as they open in the NBA. But If there's any team built to sustain success, it's Oklahoma City.

This and Jalen green last 3 seasons game played: 76 82 82 Underrated part of HOU 2 seed run. If KD, 36 yrs old, plays 55-62 games, on those nights he’s out w/no JG or KD , gonna be tough to score. Need amen, JS, apli, reed even to take a step which is a fair play imo.

Let me pop back in really quick to say, noise is serious. If BRK as a facilitator rumour is true, here's my guess, also works with Cam Whitmore instead of Nate Williams. Fred Vanvleet wont be the filler I'd say, so its either Jalen or Dillon+Jabari.

Reed taking Holiday's spot minutes when Aaron was already a 40% three-point shooter is a wash AT BEST, likely a downgrade. Jabari finished at 35.4% and I agree he can improve some, but by how much? Plus if he's coming off the bench that's only 20-25 mpg. FVV's regression was a huge negative and I while I agree he *should* be better in a reduced role, that's contingent on Jalen/Amen/Reed stepping up more as primary initiators, which is far from a guarantee.

@fyrebear Shooting is this team's Achilles heel and the offense was completely propped up by outworking teams on the offensive glass, which even Stone admitted was an advantage that evaporated in the playoffs. I just don't see a poor shooting roster suddenly becoming better.
