Elena, sadly you know very little of the subject and you didn’t read the article I posted or even comprehend the one you sent.
The point is for the willfully obtuse such as yourself, the technology exists to sort up to 660 ballots per minute even if there are 16 candidates in one race. And, the machine would only be needed in highly populated counties because many precincts have less than 1,000 votes to count which can be counted throughout the day but not reported until after 7 pm.
You really should be a poll worker just one time to see how things work.

This was before ballot images were made available to the public. Now, with hand marked paper ballots, anyone that downloads the images can count the votes, and @madliberals could probably do this in a couple of days. 😉
While counting the pieces of papers, and perhaps the top 3 races in a ballot makes sense, having counted 39 positions and referendum questions in my Primary ballot, leaving to hand count only would be crazy...

I will be filing a petition to have the voting system reexamined by the Secretary of State as allowed by Georgia law O.C.G.A. § 21-2-324 (Georgia Code Title 21, Elections, Article 9, Part 2). I know, I know…Raffensperger has lied about the machines and he lied to Congress 44 times but this will put him on the record and could be used in future civil or criminal actions against him.

As a member of the Georgia State Election Board, I was shocked to be told that the final tabulation of Georgia Votes, is done behind closed doors, without transparency, independent observation and accountability. This year, even more critical, we have a candidate on the ballot for Governor who is overseeing his own election.
This is not right. This is not transparency.
Call the Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, and demand transparency in our voting process. Allow observers into the Election Night Reporting Room to observe what’s going on.
If there’s nothing to hide - you hide nothing.
