Boys’ varsity basketball earned a thrilling 57–56 overtime win over Urbana in the IHSA Class 3A regional semifinal. It was a physical game from the opening tip and a back-and-forth battle throughout. In the first half, the Tigers were able to limit Bulldog standout Jackson Bohm to just four points. Sophomore Konner Fisher stepped up in a big way for the Bulldogs, carrying the offensive load early with 11 first-half points, including three three-pointers. The star shines brighter each game for Fisher. The back-and-forth battle continued after halftime, but Bohm took over offensively in the second half and could not be contained. Bohm did what he does best by attacking the basket, drawing fouls, and cleaning the glass. Each team had chances to win it in regulation, but extra time was needed to decide the outcome. In overtime, the game came down to the final seconds. With six seconds remaining in a tied game, Bohm stepped to the free-throw line for two shots. After missing the first, he calmly knocked down the second to give the Bulldogs the lead. Urbana pushed the ball down the court and got a shot off, but it wouldn’t fall as time expired. Bohm led the way with 23 points, 19 of them coming in the second half. He also added eight rebounds, two blocks, two assists, and two steals. Fisher finished with 14 points, including clutch free throws down the stretch, and pulled down seven rebounds. Paxson O’Malley chipped in 11 points. The Bulldogs advance to the regional championship game Friday at Normal West, where they will face Centennial at 7 p.m. It’s a rematch from an early-season meeting won by the Chargers, 77–66. @MSHSBulldogsBB @mshsathletics @jbohm23 @KfisherQB1 @paxomalley
