good thing MAGA is a temporary thing in America, and the world. When Russia finishes becoming a Chinese Vassal state, Iran as robber barons go away. Down the road, I wonder what the West will look like with America as a more equal partner, with a more distributed western center of Gravitas. What will the EU become? Where will Turkey and the Arab world be? What will China do when it decides it must stretch it's wings? I don't know, I'm just wandering around in what it might look like.

Saudi Arabia is rerouting oil supply away from the blocked Strait of Hormuz at a record pace: Crude oil shipments from Yanbu, a port on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, are up to ~5 million barrels per day, DOUBLING in just 2 weeks. This comes as the 746-mile East-West pipeline is now operating at full capacity of ~7 million barrels per day. Of this supply, ~5 million barrels per day are being exported ~2 million barrels per day are being refined in Saudi. The surge in exports from Yanbu has now offset ~45% of lost Persian Gulf shipments this month. To put this into perspective, exports from this port were at just ~1 million barrels per day before the war in January and February. Saudi Arabia is actively looking for workarounds to the Hormuz closure.

On March 30, Bulgaria’s caretaker PM Andrey Gyurov flew to Kyiv and signed a 10-year security cooperation agreement with President Zelensky, covering joint drone and ammunition production, Ukraine's reconstruction, the Vertical Gas Corridor, and a landmark railway linking Greece’s Alexandroupolis to Odessa. Zelensky called Bulgaria "a very important arms producer." He's not wrong. Bulgaria's defense industry already accounts for ~4% of GDP, and since 2022 it has been one of Ukraine's largest suppliers of artillery shells and small arms. The deal formalizes what was already a de facto partnership, and opens the door to joint drone manufacturing, with Ukraine bringing the tech expertise and Bulgaria bringing the production capacity. 📌 The Alexandroupolis–Odessa corridor is the sleeper story here. This is not just a railway. It is a land-based substitute for the Turkish Straits. Since Ankara invoked the Montreux Convention in 2022 and closed the Bosphorus to warships, NATO has needed an alternative axis connecting the Aegean to the Black Sea. Alexandroupolis now handles a significant share of US military logistics in and out of Europe. The corridor, running directly through Bulgaria, transforms Sofia from a transit country into a core node of NATO's eastern flank infrastructure. Completion is expected around 2030, and railway costs will likely count toward Bulgaria's defense spending commitments. Bulgaria's state gas company Bulgartransgaz already holds a 20% stake in the Alexandroupolis LNG terminal - a direct hedge against Russian energy dependence. The reconstruction of Ukraine, estimated at $500B–$1T+, offers a massive future market for Bulgarian construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing firms. Transit fees, logistics contracts, and long-term defense supply chains along the corridor represent concrete revenue streams. The problem is that this agreement was signed by a caretaker government during an active election campaign, with no parliamentary approval. Gyurov himself argued the signing “does not require parliamentary approval, as it is a political act.” Acting President Yotova called the deal “inadequate,” arguing a caretaker cabinet has no mandate to bind the country for a decade, and described the text as “weak” and “outdated.” Former Pro-Russian President Radev accused the government of taking “long-term commitments that increase risks to national security” and treating the Constitution as “an empty word.” Either way, the Alexandroupolis–Odessa corridor is the real long-term story, one that will define Bulgaria's role in European security for the next decade, regardless of which government ends up implementing it.

Russia has adapted its Molniya strike drone for aerial reconnaissance by replacing the strike payload with off-the-shelf cameras, satellite communications equipment, and consumer computing hardware, according to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR). The variant, designated Molniya-2R, represents a low-budget approach to battlefield surveillance that relies heavily on commercially available foreign components, raising fresh questions about how effectively international sanctions are restricting the flow of Western technology into Russian military supply chains. msn.com/en-us/news/tec…

Interesting that Iran wants to wage asymmetric warfare as Robber Barons at the Striate of Hormuz. Some Iran spaces in X see that as the new world order... that might work for them, except they are ideologists who will not be able to resist their craving for escalation. the IRGC will never be able to accept their role as a living parasite

NEW: Senior officials in Tehran have signaled that they seek to use the Strait of Hormuz and energy flows around it as points of leverage that Iran can use after the war to extract concessions and secure strategic aims. They have also signaled that they will not accept a ceasefire or halt disruptions to international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz unless the United States and Israel cease all attacks on Iran. Other Key Takeaways: Iran has continued attacks on shipping amid discussions in Tehran about Iran’s leverage over the strait. Iran attacked the Panamanian-flagged AQUA 1 oil tanker, leased by Qatari state-owned energy firm, 17 nautical miles northwest of Ras Laffan, Qatar. These statements indicate that Iran could continue to use its proven ability to disrupt shipping in the strait after the war ends to deter the United States and its partners or compel them to avoid actions that would have negative impacts on Iran. The IDF stated on April 1 that it struck “approximately 15 weapons production sites,” including a Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) complex for advanced missile production. The IDF struck a pharmaceutical research and development company that supplied the Iranian regime with materials, such as fentanyl, that can be used for chemical weapons. The IDF killed IRGC Quds Force Lebanon Corps Engineering Head responsible for advancing underground projects in Lebanon and Syria for Hezbollah and the Assad regime and he managed dozens of underground facilities in Lebanon used to store advanced weapons. Iran launched five missile salvoes, including a 10-missile salvo, which was among the largest missile salvoes targeting Israel since the beginning of the war. It remains unclear if this was a one-off large salvo or will become part of a trend. Iran launched 19 drones and four ballistic missiles targeting Bahrain on April 1. One or more of these targeted a company in Bahrain. This follows the IRGC's threat on March 31 that it would target US‑linked information, communications, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology firms in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks. Hezbollah claimed that it conducted 71 attacks targeting northern Israeli communities and Israeli forces and positions in northern Israel and southern Lebanon between 2:00 PM ET on March 31 and 2:00 PM ET on April 1. The Houthis launched an unspecified number of ballistic missiles targeting southern Israel on April 1. This attack marks the fourth time that the Houthis have attacked Israel since entering the conflict on March 28. The Houthis claimed that it coordinated the ballistic missile attack on Israel with Hezbollah and Iran.

MAGA doesn’t seem to grasp what’s happening to them - or what they’re doing to America. Their movement is systematically dismantling the foundations of American power: its alliance system, its supply chains, the dollar’s reserve currency status, and the global trust in its institutions. That’s the very infrastructure that made America the dominant power of the last 80 years. So, unless MAGA is totally and irreversibly destroyed and deep structural reforms prevent another rogue president from taking office, there is no way back. History taught us that this is how empires fall - not from external invasion, but from within. I don't think that institutional resistance to MAGA is coming through impeachment or prosecution. The only cards left to play are engineered failure and manufactured consequences: > Trump promised a booming economy and low inflation. What Americans will get is crushing inflation and an unaffordable life - turning his own voters, especially independents, against him. > Trump promised to end wars. What Americans will get is proliferation of wars, higher military spending, and compounding misery. He promised everything to everyone and the only strategy left on the table is to weaponise those promises against him. With that said, the rest of the world will suffer collateral damage - that’s unavoidable. But the calculus is brutal and I think in 20-30 years, we will realise it was the least worst option: MAGA has become an existential threat to the Western order, and the only way to save said order is to destroy them politically - completely, and permanently. The people that chose to die on that hill - for whatever personal or ideological reason - will have a very tough life regardless of the outcome. Their lives would be shit whether or not Trump & MAGA are destroyed or prevail.

🇮🇱🇮🇷 An American pilot with 25 years of experience, a veteran of three wars and hundreds of combat sorties, spoke about Israeli military pilots. He published a post that quickly went viral: “I’ve flown over Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya. I thought I had seen everything. But when I saw what the Israeli Air Force is doing in Iran, I realized I’m still a student. Precision. Logistics. 200 aircraft in one night. 500 targets. 1,500 kilometers. No aerial refueling from American bases. All the fuel from home. All the weapons from home. It’s like flying from Miami to New York, bombing targets along the way, and returning— while 200 aircraft move simultaneously without a single collision. To the Israeli pilots: You are not just the best in the Middle East. You are the best in the world. And that’s the final word.”

🃏BREAKING—Meloni Announces Italy Will Close Ukrainian Skies for Papal Visit to Lviv ROME—In advance of Pope Leo’s visit to Lviv, an ancient Ukrainian city whose Latin name is Leopolis, the Italian prime minister made an extraordinary announcement—bigger than President Trump’s verbal campaign to take Greenland: Giorgia Meloni said that she would dispatch designer Italian F-16s to guard Ukrainian airspace during the papal visit, in effect closing the skies over Western Ukraine. The ostensible goal: protect the pope and the crowds of the faithful from Russian and Iranian missiles and drones. But experts, including Nato Secretary General Taylor Swift, are noticing there is a deeper objective, one that quite likely can be achieved: Even after Leo leaves Lviv, the rubicon will have been crossed. Europe, at the invitation of Ukraine, will realize it can send fighter jets, soldiers, whatever, to protect Ukraine—and Russia can do nothing about it but stew. “Frankly, this Vatican-Italian action, filling the blank spaces of doing nothing, will end the age of fear,” said Nato Secretary General Taylor Swift. In response to the papal power move, Trump was overheard saying, “I think I’m now only the second most powerful American in the world, but if you really think about it, the two most powerful people are Americans, and, though I’m number two, I’m also the American president, so that sort of, here’s a Sharpie, also makes me still the number one because really I mean the pope, you know he’s like a different dimension.” While in Lviv, Pope Leo XIV is expected to violate the Vatican’s longtime understanding with Moscow by elevating the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv to patriarch status—a move fiercely opposed by the Kremlin’s orc-odox church. Additionally, Leo, whose name means “lion,” plans to consecrate Russia to the Virgin Mary, as requested in the 1917 Fatima apparitions in which the sun danced like a UFO drone-orb and Mary, via a talk with three shepherd kids, called for the conversion of Russia for the sake of global security. 🃏 Today on April 1, we report very true—the truest, most beautiful, frankly, people are saying—headlines, here from Kyiv. 🇺🇲 One of the American specialized submarines of the Ohio class in the SSGN variant was spotted in the Gibraltar area during a personnel changeover or transfer operation, which is a rather rare occurrence. It is highly likely that this is the USS Ohio - one of only four submarines of this type in the US Navy. Unlike standard strategic missile submarines, these boats are reconfigured for the tasks of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles and supporting special operations forces, including covert delivery and evacuation of units. It's important to note that there are currently 18 Ohio-class submarines in service, but only four of them are in the SSGN configuration. The remaining 14 are SSBNs, which perform nuclear deterrence tasks with ballistic missiles and are not intended for special forces operations. SSGN, on the contrary, are a multi-purpose tool: they can carry up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles and simultaneously serve as a platform for the deployment and operations of special forces. Their appearance in such key areas as Gibraltar usually indicates activity related to the transfer of forces or preparation for operations in different areas of responsibility, including the Middle East, where several such submarines are already presumably operating.
