Vandals have thrown 800 lifebelts into River Clyde this year i.stv.tv/3ZkMxGA

The parents of a Glasgow man who drowned in the Clyde are today taking their fight for water safety to the Scottish Parliament. Christopher Spiers accidentally fell into the river after a night out in 2016. Despite the best efforts of emergency services the 28-year-old couldn't be saved. Since then his mum Margaret and dad Duncan have been campaigning for improved safety. They've secured new equipment by waterways across Glasgow and the west, including replacing all missing ropes for life rings by the Clyde. @spiers_duncan says if they'd been there in 2016 Christopher may still be alive. He's calling on the Scottish Government to get more children water-aware.

Our recruits are diving into vital skills! Today’s training focused on water safety and rescue techniques, ensuring our officers are prepared to respond in any situation, on land or water. #PoliceTraining #WaterSafety
