I kept losing SSH whenever OpenClaw ran heavy tasks
I later found out that my small VPS was getting resource pressure (RAM spikes + disk I/O)
And with no swap safety net, remote networking got unstable under load and I could not even ssh back in
To verify it, I watched live load/memory/swap + gateway logs while running heavy jobs, and correlated that with SSH timeouts
Then to fix it, I added 4GB swap, tuned kernel + SSH keepalive, reduced OpenClaw concurrency, and adjusted service scheduling priority
And to test, I ran a real end-to-end QA task with observability on, did 18 live SSH probes during the run(screenshots below), and got 18/18 successful (0 drops)
During this test, memory use kept rising as the QA task got heavier, and when RAM got close to full, the system started using swap
That was expected and healthy after the fix - swap acted as a safety buffer instead of letting the server stall
As the task finished, memory pressure dropped and swap use started to go down. SSH finally stayed stable and the QA task was completed.
The SSH drops were caused by resource pressure on a small VPS, and the hardening I added (swap + tuning + lower concurrency) fixed stability under load
I am still looking for a way to put all these in reproducible scripts

Switched my entire Anthropic usage on OpenClaw to use the Agents SDK now. Hopefully I don't get auth issues anymore.

Alright. So, my AI assistant is now able to:-
- Apply for a business license ✅
- Track its status ✅
- Get the control number ✅
..all from WhatsApp/Telegram.
Works for at least 5 other permits too.
Imagine applying for licenses all from WhastApp and in a chat manner🚀

An update before the article: I’m now able to make changes to websites from WhatsApp and have the assist lang push to git and pull from server.. I like it 🚀
