Grand Island boys lacrosse earned a 9-7 win over Amherst to go 5-2 (4-1 in league). Goals by Geblein, Bridenbaker, Bondi, Hanel, NKorte, Yoder, Scott. Nico Macrides saved 70% of the shots he faced in net and was named, Viking of the Game.

Hockey/Lacrosse athletes leading the way for GI Hockey!

Grand Island boys hockey earned a hard fought 3-0 win over league rival Niagara Wheatfield. Jake Benton led the way with a goal and an assist. Donovan Heacock & Trent Yoder added goals. Chris Swain posted 25 saves for a shutout. Great team win! Great play on the blue line. Vikings are 4-0 in the NFL and 6-2-1-1 overall.

@imdunntweeting Here in WNY, the local youth summer lacrosse league does sixes up through 4th grade. Great to give the kids lots of opportunities to play all over the field and get tons of touches!

Would it be crazy if no youth lacrosse players used long poles prior to middle school? I feel like everyone should start off with a short stick for a few years. Easier to get the basics, have fun, everyone plays O and D more like basketball.
