BREAKING: The Court of Appeal has overturned an injunction that would have blocked the use of the Bell Hotel in Epping to house asylum seekers The home office argued that the human rights of asylum seekers ultimately trumped the concerns of local residents The Court of Appeal found that the temporary injunction would have incentivised unlawful protests and encouraged other councils to apply for injunctions It said the judge made an 'erroneous decision' in denying the Home Office the right to take part in the legal proceedings 'If an outbreak of protests enhances the case for a planning injunction, this runs the risk of acting as an incentive for further protests. There is a risk of encouraging further lawlessness'

UK Government promised voters they would “protect nature” and “ensure…new towns and housebuilding include nature at their heart”. So why are new planning changes weakening environmental protections for developments? 😕🧵 (1/5)
