#ICYMI Dust storms in the U.S. Southwest do more than block the view—they carry serious risks for air quality, health, and the environment. If you live in the Southwest U.S., join GLOBE educator and Partner John Olgin’s GLOBE Observer team, Desert Blooms EP26, to help scientists better understand these storms, reduce their impacts, and raise awareness. Help GLOBE reach 2 million satellite matches by April 2027! Submit your Cloud and Land Cover observations in the GLOBE Observer app. With every observation that aligns with satellite data, you will receive an email from NASA with matching satellite imagery so you can compare your view on the ground with what’s seen from space. With 1,715,611 satellite matches to date, we only have 284,389 left to go! Get started at GLOBE Observer today: observer.globe.gov

Nearly 500 observations were submitted to the Blowing Snow pilot project, with 242 of those observations being submitted by the Civil Air Patrol! Blowing snow is snow lifted by wind many meters above the ground, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous conditions for travel. Ground observations, like the ones submitted during this pilot, help scientists validate and improve satellites responsible for identifying these weather events. Check out the summary results tinyurl.com/blowing-snow-r… and watch the special GO Connect recording tinyurl.com/blowing-snow-c… to find out more.
