🚨 BREAKING: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court has ruled that Louisiana's creation of a majority black district that stretches across the state from Shreveport to Baton Rouge was an unconstitutional gerrymander.
It did not strike down Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act entirely, but ruled that drawing districts on the sole basis of race is unconstitutional.
Without racial gerrymanders in the southern states, Republicans could gain at least a dozen seats.

A family was visiting the Canada and United States border, there is a one-way turnstile into Canada. Their son was playing with the turnstile and accidentally ended up in Canada.
The dad starts to yell at the child, claiming now he can’t come back since he’s in Canada now. He has to go through customs and he doesn’t have any paperwork on hand.
When this happens, can’t they just loon at the camera and see he don’t mean to come over purposely and return him to his family?

If you read the lives of Caesar, Alexander, and Napoleon you can see how their seemingly delusional mindset shaped their success. Caesar in particular had a knack for turning bad situations to his advantage. He was once kidnapped by pirates in the Mediterranean, but his personality won them over. When they tried to ransom him for 20 talents of silver, he demanded that they raise it to 50. After his release, he raised an army and killed all of the pirates who had previously kidnapped him. He did the most insane political maneuvers too, like running for pontifex maximus at 36 while lacking all of the typical prerequisites. All of this built up an insane aura around him which just accelerated his success.

@chriswithans It’s neither unenforceable nor unconstitutional. The Constitution delegates authority over elections to state legislatures - the are free to allocate their electoral votes however they see fit. It’s how we have the situations in Nebraska and Maine.

They haven’t won over a single state that Trump has won once. Nor do they have NH.
Even if they gained all the yellow states except NH below, they could very well be under the 270 threshold after the 2030 census.
This is very much like the current mid-decade gerrymandering effort from Democrats: the low hanging fruit’s already been plucked and every subsequent move gets harder and harder.

@chriswithans The NPVC only takes effect once a majority of electoral college seats are in NPVC ratifying states. The states then agree to choose all their EC votes to match the result of the popular vote. They automatically have the majority of the EC regardless of what other states do.

It’s strikingly similar to insulated puritan circles where they will turn a blind eye to blatantly bad performance (music, public speaking, etc) as long as whatever is being done is in service to the ideology. Probably so strikingly similar because Leftism is as strong a religion in every tangible way as Puritanism. And, much like hardline Puritanism, its dogma can only survive if it is in a constant state of being affirmed and repeated by its followers. Which means it’s far more important to affirm and repeated the dogma than it is to tell the truth or be comically critical.
