This is wrong. The "best" way to go shopping depends entirely on where you're going and who you are. Certainly driving isn't the "best" way for my 10 year-old to shop for dinner he made last week. A perfect encapsulation of self-centered, sunk-cost car brain.

@Boenau I don't care if the trip is half a mile, the best way to go shopping is to drive and have a car to put stuff in. I've walked and cycled to stores, and when you do that you're always limited what you can shop for. I would never waste my money in a cargo bike just for shopping

It is very exciting to see how close it’s going to be for the top two spots, but it’s a little boring there’s just no one else who is reasonably close. I wish Egan Bernal was back to his old ways, Jai Hindley was more consistent, and there were any competitive French riders!

Update: one friend was "a little scared to ride the bus" (and the first scheduled bus was a ghost bus - but the 2nd was "only" 10 minutes later) but after riding the bus, he now thinks it's cool. And once back at our house, my kid let them all test ride ebikes

@philritz1 @jen_keesmaat Tell that to the people who have a 1 or 2 hour commute to work. Our transit system needs to be improved. I live in the city and it takes almost 1 1/2 by transit to my workplace.

@LTC_Van When a protest blocks the way, police, fire and ambulance generally are forced to re-route. (They can never assume the fallacy that you believe.) Which, in this case, would’ve meant the Ironworkers.

Yes, the Critical Mass protest blocked traffic (including public transit and emergency vehicles) on the Lions Gate Bridge June 30. The three-lane bridge was upgraded in 2001 for $74 million -- including widened sidewalks for cyclists with protective barriers. #vanpoli

Aha, somebody has data! This shows that through all the countries with data, there like 10-20 cyclist deaths per billion KM of cycling. The US has 7 car-related deaths per billion KM of driving. Cars are safer. twitter.com/karltryggvason…
