@samstein Trump is running it like a reality show, and Dems are overwhelmed. Our team sent a (very real, not scammy-looking) survey to online donors to hear their thoughts, and these are the highlights: x.com/newdigitalnow/…

@AlexanderMcCoy4 When’s the last time media outlets were wise about what tactics and behaviors they’re rewarding with favorable headlines?

True! It's why, since June '25 when I was hired, we have worked really hard to rebuild the DNC's creator program. After '24, the entire institutional creator infrastructure the campaign built vanished. When I started, we had like ~30 creators in a Signal. That was it. /1

Antisemitism is when you ignore all the Israelis telling you they were raped but then believe anonymous sources who swear they were raped Israeli trained dogs.

The line, for those who don't know: "The antisemite does not accuse the Jew of stealing because he thinks the Jew stole. He does it because he enjoys seeing the Jew turn out his pockets to prove he didn't."
Karol Markowicz@karol

Jews having to defend themselves against accusations that they've, ahem, trained dogs to rape prisoners, is the most disgusting version yet of the Jean-Paul Sartre turned out pockets line. No one really believes it happened but we have to point out the logical fallacies anyway.

Delta has done such a poor PR job of getting out in front of this story. Less than 10% of Delta flights are less than 350 miles. That's a 60-minute flight. The only flight I take that's less than 350 miles is LAX to LAS and Delta hasn't served snacks or drinks on that since 2019.
The Washington Post@washingtonpost

In a devastating move for Biscoff cookie fans, Delta Air Lines announced it will no longer serve free snacks and beverages to economy passengers on flights of less than 350 miles, starting May 19. Our travel reporters have thoughts: wapo.st/4tWN1AR

The Pod Bros had 20+ tweets about the DNC autopsy but couldn't even be bothered a single one mentioning the VRA being gutted. So telling...

@GlennYoungkin Here’s the deal: if this weren’t partisan, the court would’ve made this decision before the people had a chance to vote…

Here’s the deal: Abigail Spanberger, Don Scott, Louise Lucas and all their friends knowingly violated the Virginia Constitution. They purposefully violated clear constitutional procedures to deceive voters, capping off their master deception with ballot language meant to confuse everyone. They strongly argued for the VA Supreme Court to “wait” until after the referendum so their flood of money from national democrats could fund their brazen dishonesty and trick voters to “restore fairness”, and then claim “the will of the people” when the VA Supreme Court would undoubtedly strike down their unconstitutional attempt to disenfranchise millions of Virginians. It’s a disgusting disregard for Virginians, the Constitution and a flagrant violation of their oath of office.

can someone explain to me how when Virginia voters passed a constitutional amendment, the courts said no meanwhile Florida republican legislators completely ignored a voter-passed constitutional amendment prohibiting gerrymandering and that’s totally fine?

Taniel@Taniel

Virginia's supreme court overturns the April 21 referendum, and keeps Virginia's status-quo map in place. The new map had shifted four seats Dems' way. (Two of the 4 will remain competitive for Dems this fall, tho 2 of them will not.) nytimes.com/2026/05/08/us/…

Two last things before I shut up about this (I'm very annoyed, as you can tell). 1. This is a sad day for the legitimacy of our legal system. The Florida constitution explicitly says you can't gerrymander for partisan reasons, but everyone says they're all DeSantis stooges so they're just going to ignore it. But in Virginia, when the VOTERS FREAKING VOTED on a referendum, it's going to get thrown out on a technicality post hoc. This is not a system where rules are applied uniformly, and people have the right to be frustrated at this double standard.

When I say the country is institutionally rigged for Republicans I’m talking about how Virginia gets their maps struck down after a two year process involving multiple legislative sessions and a statewide referendum but Tennessee can just decide not to enfranchise Memphis anymore

it's not a quid pro quo. good journalism takes a village, powered by generous sources who believe in the mission of helping reporters communicate issues to the public. if that is not enough for you to take a call or answer an email, that's OK and we understand!
JMDavis@JessMarinDavis

I can't believe I need to say this, but if, as a journalist, you use my time, research & expertise without quoting me, don't be surprised if I never return your call.
