@ProfBZZZ just to add- your child should know how to read minimally before entering kindergarten. Reading was taught [minimally] in pre-k. Active parents read and taught their children as well. They don't need to be able to read an easy-reader per say, but at MINIMUM, their name & address.

A student today at my elite university admitted to me today that she took a class so she could work on reading for more than 20 minutes at a time. She can't read. She mainly skims and summarizes, she says and still gets A's.
This student is, by professional standards, illiterate. Gonna have high GPA when she graduates.
This conversation was had after 6 of 22 students dropped my course because the maximum reading per week in one week was over 100 pages.
What people aren't grasping is that this is literally *dangerous*. These people are going to be come doctors, engineers, etc. They are - by any metric - vastly less capable than prior generations. These effects are cumulative over a lifetime.
This grade inflation is part of the problem, but not even close to the entirety. And the problem obviously starts in K-12.
Students don't know history because, you can't actually become historically literate on the advice of 'never assign more than 30 pages a week'. You can't develop any of the skills that came with literacy. This is, quite honestly, a civilizational catastrophe.

🚨let me tell you why Iran just closed the Strait of Hormuz again because most people have no idea what happened today..
this morning the deal was simple.. stop the war.. reopen the strait.. let oil flow.. Iran did its part.. oil dropped 16%..
but Iran had one condition that mattered more than anything.. Lebanon must be included in the ceasefire.. it was point one in their 10-point plan.. Trump called it "workable"..
hours later Israel bombed Beirut and Tyre.. Netanyahu said "this is not the end of the battle".. Trump confirmed Lebanon was never in the deal.. and Iran's parliament announced 3 out of 10 clauses were already violated..
so here's what actually happened.. Iran was told the deal covers Lebanon.. opened the strait based on that understanding.. then watched Lebanon get bombed while the White House said it was never covered..
Iran didn't break the ceasefire.. the ceasefire was broken around them.. and the strait is the only leverage they have to prove it matters..
20% of the world's oil is being turned on and off like a game.. running the worl like a school project..
people are dying in Beirut.. markets are swinging billions by the hour.. and the people in charge can't even agree on what they signed this morning..

@Logically_Left I use the service legless to ship luggage when moving often. It usually is es UPS or fedex as their carrier. The service is cheaper & more tidy than flying with the baggage. The price to ship my luggage was only a $70 cheaper than it flying with me; it's normally double at least
