What an incredible night for our Garland Citizen Police Academy class.
First, the class toured the Garland Police Boxing Gym and meet some truly inspiring kids and dedicated coaches who are making a difference every single day. We were also honored to spend time with GREAT Police Officer Hall of Fame inductee, retired Garland Lieutenant Dave Swavey. His leadership and legacy continue to impact our community.
Later in the evening, we heard from our Neighborhood Police Officers and learned how they build relationships and strengthen partnerships. Our Homeless Liaison Officers provided insight into the work they do every day. We also received an in-depth presentation from our Narcotics Unit about the challenges they face and the work being done to keep our community safe.

Today, we honor and remember Officer Michael David Moore, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 15, 1997.
Officer Moore’s service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We remember his dedication to protecting our community and extend our continued thoughts to his family, friends, and fellow officers.
We honor his life. We honor his service. We remember.
