In the wake of Zohran Mamdani, I’ve seen people citing Nordic countries as successful examples of socialism.
Nordic countries are not socialist.
They don’t consider themselves socialists.
The former prime minister of Denmark said in 2015: “Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy.”
Socialism means government ownership of the means of production - factories, resources, industries, often with central planning.
That’s not what Nordic countries have.
They have the capitalist foundation of free markets and open trade.
But they also have strong social safety nets, universal healthcare, at the cost of high taxes.
A more accurate term for them would be “social democracy” - capitalism + strong welfare policies.
The only countries that are purely socialist, or very close, are Cuba and North Korea.
And I don’t want America to look like either of those.

We don't need Zohran Mamdani's socialism. We need better capitalism.

Charlie Kirk’s assassination is not random. History shows the pattern:
1.Label your opponents “evil”. For example “Nazis” and “Fascists”.
2.This implies normal rules don’t apply to them
3.Excuse or celebrate the violence
It has happened before in Germany, Rwanda, and even here in America.
This is why so many people are celebrating it and are okay with it.
The left has created a permission structure for violence and they are perpetuating that permission structure for violence by not taking accountability for what their rhetoric does.
We need to call this out aggressively.

BREAKING: Turning Point USA continues to be the fastest-growing political organization in the world.
Chapter requests have doubled from 60,000 to 120,000 since Charlie Kirk’s memorial.
Charlie Kirk’s life goal was 20,000 chapters. TPUSA has now surpassed that by more than 5x.
They tried to silence Charlie. They only fueled a movement that can’t be stopped. This is the Turning Point.
Join the movement and get involved with @TPUSA today: tpusa.com/getinvolved/

The political echo chamber problem is not a Right-wing issue. Before @elonmusk bought Twitter, people on the Right created alternative social media platforms out of necessity, because they were being banned from mainstream ones.
After Elon bought Twitter, people on the Left created alternative platforms not because they were being banned, but because didn't want to engage with people on the Right. They left Twitter voluntarily.
This mindset that's so intolerant of opposing viewpoints that it builds its own echo chamber leads to an extremist death spiral. Dangerous lies proliferate and become exaggerated, fueling extreme fear and panic, which in turn creates permission structures for violence.
Many on the Left blame their extremism on the Right's extremism. But they only believe the Right is so extreme because of the echo chambers they've created and voluntarily locked themselves in.
Right-wing echo chambers are also a problem, but they only exist because of Left-wing intolerance.
We thought making Twitter a true marketplace of ideas would solve the echo chamber problem. It didn’t, because one side actively self-silos. I’m not sure how to fix this.
Any thoughts?

Charlie Kirk did not say black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously.
He referred to specific black women, not black women in general.
Karen Attiah misquoted him.
I’m posting this again. It has proof.
We can’t allow this falsehood to persist.
Laurie Garrett@Laurie_Garrett
The Washington Post fired Karen Attiah because she quoted Charlie Kirk, saying, "Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person's slot." She added no comment -- merely an ACCURATE quote. karenattiah.substack.com/p/the-washingt…

🚨CNN’s Van Jones LIED about the brutal murder of Iryna Zarutska, claiming the word “white” was never mentioned except by Charlie Kirk.
That’s false. The killer said it TWICE “I got that white girl.”
Now, Charlie Kirk himself has been SHOT.
Violence is spiraling out of control and CNN continues to pour gasoline on the fire.
Van Jones must be FIRED immediately.

Shocked to see the murder of @charliekirk11
The left spent years labeling the right as ‘far-right extremists’ and violent. But in their obsession and hatred, they’ve become what they claimed to oppose... extremists fueling violence.

The Carney government may have single handedly started a period of intense labour strife with today’s decision.
My research clearly shows that workers are incredibly insecure.
The cost of living, housing costs, precarious work, macroeconomic instability and AI have created a toxic cocktail.
And unions will want to demonstrate their value in protecting their members.
He was elected to protect people. Secure them and provide more certainty. Today, could send the opposite signal.
