We must consider fungal diseases in patients with suspected TB relapse. It seems obvious. But it is not.

Maryland folks, I need another favor. There is a person from Anne Arundel county that has been infected with SARS-CoV-2 for about 3 years (Delta infection). They probably don’t even know they are infected, but they are shedding a ton of viral material in wastewater 1/

#IDtwitter #IDxpost haven't seen this foe in a while. Would you use your name to label a new discovered bacteria? In honor of Elizabeth King who initially discovered Flavobacterium meningosepticum. What other bacteria was named after her? @BradSpellberg @DrToddLee @wwrighID

#IDtwitter Anecdotally, have been seeing a lot of intolerance and adverse effects of long term (> 3 months) fluconazole (400mg or higher). Others with similar or different experiences? If so- alternatives for crypto, cocci treatment most specifically? @FungalDoc @GermHunterMD @GRThompsonMD @TxID_Fellows

@FungalDoc @ApuAkkad1 @GermHunterMD Intolerance to one azole does not mean intolerance to all. Sometimes my patients do the "azole dance" trying all the different azoles until we can find one they tolerate. Isavuconazole an option if accessible/affordable.

1/ Why hasn’t group A strep (GAS) developed resistance to penicillin? This is particularly odd given that other closely related gram-positive species (e.g., Strep pneumoniae) have resistant strains. Given the global burden of disease, understanding GAS is essential...

@PradGeorge @nickmmark It’s in an old paper. But they were tying off bronchi in murine models. That is post obstructive pneumonia though- not atelectasis. That’s where originated though.

The most frustrating phenomena in the medical literature also has the cutest name: The Woozle Effect The Woozle Effect is when a source is widely cited for a claim it does not actually support, often at the end of a long chain of citations. What examples can you think of?

@DrPHO_ID @PaulSaxMD Sort of what I was thinking. Cardiology reads a hundred ekgs in an hour (some done a day or two prior and thus no clinical impact but they can bill for the read). Seems we should be able to bill for a micro culture result read….or HIV suscept

Query for ID docs practicing here in the USA: Who uses these "interprofessional consults codes" for curbsides/eConsults? The RVUs are not great for reimbursement, and needing patient consent must be difficult. aan.com/siteassets/hom…
