@WAFCtabs @MartinSLewis it's the same with income tax if you think about it. A married couple with both people earning 50k pay a lot less tax than one earning 100k and the other not working. The difference in tax is staggering! (750 per month)

@MartinSLewis I’m being careful with what company car to choose so I don’t end up going over the threshold for having to pay back child benefits. Bonkers how a household can bring in £99,998 before tax and get full child benefits but as soon as 1 person goes over £50k the benefit goes down

I was just asked "I've recently received a high income benefit child benefit charge. I earn £53k my wife £12.5k. Yet I've read if we both earned £49k, we wouldn't have received the charge . How is that fair?" That's correct. Sadly the answer is simple. It isn't fair.
