Gorillaz Forgotten

@TheMediaMines I've never understood if / why these things aren't archived. They're so interesting. Maybe companies do actually still have then? But I'd assume most are lost on ancient hardware.

I kinda wish we had a way to preserve the 3D models of characters from the 90s like DK and the Toy Story characters and other things so we can preserve them. I mean we sorda do this with 3D video games and flash files from the 2000s so why not this.

@Zexal247 @onlygorillaz Yes we did 2 other G-U zines back then! I don't really remember if they had any gorillaz people interviews, or things like that, but lots of fun fan art and articles n things. Those miiight be online somewhere...? I think I did art for all of them

@onlygorillaz For sure I'm glad u like it!! The GU magazine stuff fell apart right after this one so I'm not surprised it became rlly obscure but it's so dope to see somebody hyped over it again!!

I was lucky enough to do the art for our Jamie interview, as well as transcribe Cass' interview, among other stuff. There's some lore in this zine that's wicked - Jamie drops hints about PB's return during Song Machine, great insights from Cass, crazy stuff like that

Ted themed Moon Cave AMV recently created by an Ex-Gorillaz employee (who shall remain unnamed)

Random piece of lore, in 2018 me and my friend started a rumor that 2D from Gorillaz died and for a few hours some gorillaz fans were in genuine hysterics. I still don’t get how people bought this. It was a fun day. Someone updated his wikipedia page too. Jamie had to step in😭😭

Don't know if anyone else made this connection yet, we already knew some of the illustrations would likely be inspired by the video due to the outfits. #gorillaz

@AndrewJ626 That's because throught phases 1-3 Cass Browne wrote the lore and the overal story while Jamie only directed the music videos. They got in a fight in a very dark period of Jamie's life where he would drink A LOT. So Cass decided to quit. And Jamie is in change of the lore since.

Really funny how Gorillaz lore used to be very plot-heavy and you had to watch the music videos in a certain order to get a full story... now it’s just like "Murdoc started a cult!" or "The gang goes to India!"

@humanzmadz The Gorillaz 25 designer truly was a blessing and it’s a shame they didn’t keep them on the payroll, they actually made use of the art in awesome ways and made such good merch. (Not the entire Gorillaz 25 line was designed by them)
