I was lucky enough to witness one of the greatest gigs of all time and afterwards… the absolute privilege to meet my inspiration, jamie’s work has meant so much to me for nearly a decade now and his art is the reason I am an artist today, safe to say many tears were shed..

@ur_s0_gr8 I’ve not led anyone astray, i’ve even clarified for some people who were confused or didn’t understand. I didn’t even expect the post to blow up, it had like 3 likes when i went to bed 😭 The AI usage is bad no matter how little, i wouldn’t kill to make a point about murder.

@ur_s0_gr8 I never claimed it was the entire concert nor is it a bad faith argument when damon and jamie described this concept in an interview explicitly stating they wouldn’t be using AI. I provided the examples of the known instances of them using it so far on the tour

@_hintt This is also a statement against AI! We need to up critical literacy rates this is disastrous 😭 it’s obviously a message from how bad and outdated the “model” looks, and the “atrophy” button shows how disastrous and chaotic AI slop is. It would go with the message anyway, man!

@ririntual Like they could’ve hired artists to make some visuals if they wanted new trippy shit. Even in the clips they use random animation loops from existing videos and visuals and even that’s better! Just keep it to official stuff or hire people.

@ririntual Even if the band worked with an ethical AI model (which is hard to prove anyway, they could’ve trained it on anything) it would still be a betrayal of the heavy anti-ai messaging they’ve done this phase. The entire music video was a statement against AI!

@_hintt I mean, it looks more like a filter/movement key on top of Jamie’s pre-existing artwork so not quite generative, that is why I’m saying we shouldn’t judge so quickly, especially when neither you nor I know how it was made

@ririntual It’s generative visual AI. There’s only a handful of models that could’ve produced this. They plop jamie’s art in as the first frame and tell the AI to animate it. By using it they are contributing to the negative environmental and ethical factors of AI too

@_hintt I understand your point but think seeing it like this oversimplifies the ethical and environmental issues of AI, we don’t know how this was made, trained on what, if this is AI at all etc… I would personally wait for more information or more developments

@lightningbomb78 A company called SWEAR studio does, they are affiliated with the band and have been working closely together on The mountain, they also did most of the visuals for the copper box gigs last year

@rincondeseb4s I didn’t film these clips you dork, the AI is real just watch the Geep clip and go frame by frame, the band changes every frame into unrecognisable sludge

@BombasticTom Ai Upscaling only enhances pre-existing animation. Both of these are not pre existing animations as neither of those specific movements have been animated before in the band. In the clips you can see the jellyfish grow eyebrows and teeth, GEN AI does that.
