@GlenWilliams12 do you know when we last fielded that many Welsh players in one match, Glen? Must be a - or close to the - record?!

2-1! And that's another lovely hit, this time from Kpakio. Whips it first time from the edge of the area, the keeper tips it on to the underside of the crossbar and in! What a moment for the teenager, first senior goal. walesonline.co.uk/sport/football… #CCFC

@BritAthletics what a disappointing and incredibly short-sighted approach - the priority for a host nation should always be to have as many home athletes competing as possible.

@mrianleslie Zatopek was constantly experimenting with new training methods, including holding his breath for as long as possible (to the point of unconsciousness) - recent studies have suggested this increases EPO naturally, so perhaps that was the key innovation to his success!

Sports nerds: are there any other examples like Dick Fosbury: mid-level athletes who reached the pinnacle of their sport, just once, due to a brilliant innovation?

@G_Price @G_Price good to see you on here. I need the occasional robust marketing comment to break up the cat vid's n pictures from 70s comics. Ta.

In the case of System1 - where those sages are the target audience - their marketing team deserve huge kudos for convincing an industry sceptical of any testing data their methods offer a definitive means of assessing campaign effectiveness. marketingweek.com/ritson-dont-li…

@Oelgammal @zoescaman great deck - separating scepticism from cynicism is such an important point too, which I tend to think is a combination of pragmatism (recognising where colleagues & clients are at) & - as Zoe highlights - being constructive in your feedback. Two things you excel at, Omar!

@shaneoleary1 Appreciate that, I was just genuinely interested as to which points you didn't agree on and why, as I thought you'd probably be relatively aligned on most.

@G_Price Yes there are. But mainly I really dislike Byron's tone and demeanour on this and lots of other topics.

@unclebernbach that most purchases are driven by a desire to display personality traits that have been shaped by our evolutionary history & advertising can help to shape/reinforce those associations at both the individual & collective level.

"The largest academic study into brand-building effectiveness published last year found the average media plan could be 2.6x more effective with a different media mix. And there isn’t a single optimal plan: different outcomes require different plans." warc.com/newsandopinion…

@demetrakos @v_praveen low involvement processing - Robert Heath’s Seducing the Subconscious is an excellent and thought provoking read (even if some of his experiments are tiny, which is why I don’t think you could say it’s proven in any respect).

Most advertising works, rather than almost no advertising works, because advertising works even when people aren't paying attention to ads via Bridget Angear, Craig Mawdsley, ex CSOs, AMV BBDO

@DarrylSparey if marketing is principally about understanding and meeting the (changing) needs of consumers, Bezos - for his unrelenting obsession with and priority of the customer - would have to be high on the list.

@adliterate I still find it astonishing that it was trading at just $0.24 when Forrest Gump came out in 1994 and everyone watching presumably thought they'd missed the boat on buying it.
