Shocked by the tactics by management at UniSQ, I've just sent this letter nwmd.io/s/twitter/ZBc9… to @unisqvc to help bring the university back to the bargaining table so that @NTEUnion members @unisqaus have the same job security entitlements as other university staff.

Members at UniSQ are striking for the first time in 20 years & they need your support. In pursuit of a fair agreement with conditions no different to other unis.. their asks are being ignored. They're asking for: • Redundancy to be a last resort & based on fair and objective criteria. • The right to an independent review. UNION POWER: late last year @NTEUnion members at Griffith Uni voted NO to management’s non-union enterprise agreement ballot. Members have now secured in-principle agreement for a new EA with a better pay rise, improvements to conditions and fended off attacks on staff rights.

Ooof. The AHEIA quote doing the rounds is so out of touch with how job security relates to the quality of work & the lived lives of workers in HE it's mind-boggling. These folks have no experience of precarity in HE, either as precarious worker or tenured in a land of precarity.

2/3 And let’s not even start on what they think about the education they are offering students if they think the work just comes off an endless treadmill! Or that they know their employees are on an endless treadmill, and that has serious implications for health and safety.
