The Namibian Navy intercepted a foreign-flagged fishing vessel, the FU Yuan Yu 9878, on Sunday for illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in Namibian waters.
The vessel was found harvesting fish without a valid permit and operating in a restricted zone.
It also had a full net of unreported fish species, and its Automatic Identification System had been deliberately switched off.
The captain failed to produce a valid licence.
The 22 crew members, four Chinese and 18 Angolan nationals, are expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court.

A 16-year-old boy has been commended for his swift actions after rescuing twin babies who were thrown into a pond by their mother in Omutundungu village, located in the Omusati Region.
Cornelius Shimwaafeni, a learner at Nicodemus Primary School, was herding livestock near the pond when he witnessed the incident.
Shimwaafeni said he could not stand by and watch the 9-month-old twins drown.
He narrated that he rushed to the pond and pulled both children from the water, and administered CPR before rushing them to the elders at nearby cuca shops for help.
Shimwaafeni’s actions have garnered admiration from both family and community members, with many hailing him as a hero for intervening to save the lives of the twins.
The twins have been discharged from the hospital and are now in the care of their 47-year-old father, while their mother remains in custody facing two counts of attempted murder.
Shimwaafeni expressed his eagerness to recount his heroic actions when school resumes, and his classmates inquire about their holiday experiences.

The Ovaherero chieftaincy dispute before the Windhoek High Court has been postponed to tomorrow.
One of the claimants to the throne, Professor Mutjinde Katjiua, is expected to continue presenting evidence before the court.
The matter stems from a leadership dispute within the Ovaherero community, in which two leaders were inaugurated as paramount chiefs of the Ovaherero people.
Katjiua, who took the witness stand two days ago, has been outlining the history of Ovaherero customary law and the paramount chief processes followed in the selection of a paramount chief.
During proceedings, Katjiua explained the role of customary structures and succession procedures within the Ovaherero Traditional Authority.

Leave the Country's 🔝 boxing 🥊 promoters alone

So apparently these vehicles belong to Nestor Tobias of Sunshine boxing academy and Kiriat Kamanya of Salute boxing academy. They both need to be harshly reprimanded for this behavior on our roads! They can just go settle their issues in the ring and not our roads.

A Windhoek lawyer was arrested on Saturday for allegedly shoplifting at a city center mall.
The lawyer is in custody at the Klein Windhoek Police Station, and the incident was confirmed by Namibian police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.
NBC News further understands from sources that police had difficulty determining the value of the alleged stolen items because the lawyer refused to hand over the car keys needed to open the vehicle where the goods were kept.
The lawyer is expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Some of these petty fights will reverberate very soon. If they genuinely had financial constraints, my thinking is that @KalondoMonica would have volunteered to suggest cuts herself, she can afford to so assist the state should the need be. Oto Afraida Kaana komuBorni! 🤔
