The papacy is unique in that everyone remembers the stuff that fits their agenda and forgets the stuff that doesn’t. Everyone wants the papacy to bend to their will. It won’t.

@dlongenecker1 @JoshuaTCharles The sad fact is that many Catholic conservatives are conservative first, Catholic second, and sometimes by a wide margin. It is very easy to fall into the trap of partisanship.

Everyone making a big deal out of this clearly didn’t read the homily, or note that the Pope said “takes shape,” ie there isn’t full communion, but perhaps the beginnings of it, based on a common respect for Our Lady between Christians and Muslims. A perfectly reasonable thing to say. At the beginning of the homily, he remembered martyrs killed by Muslims, and at the end he spoke of the necessity of the Church for salvation. Do the vast majority of people know any of this? No. Because they don’t read, and mindless social media spitballing is a more potent source of dopamine than intellectual honesty. On a prudential note: I think the Vatican would do well to more clearly mark these statements as being excerpts, and include the source from which they come.
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

Communion between Christians and Muslims takes shape under the mantle of Our Lady of Africa. Here, in #Algeria, the maternal love of Lalla Meryem gathers everyone as children, within our rich diversity, in our shared aspiration for dignity, love, justice, and peace. In a world where division and wars sow pain and death, living in unity and peace is a compelling sign. #ApostolicJourney

@WallStreetMav All those losing GOP Senators and Congressmen will simply move on to high-paying NGO jobs provided by the donors for services rendered. Losing is no skin off their back.

Democrats are beginning to expand their midterm lead beyond polling margins of error for winning back control of Congress. If Republicans don’t pass the SAVE America Act, deliver mass deportations, and deliver more DOGE in the reconciliation bill, it’s going to be a bloodbath.

The idea of the Pope standing separate from all earthly rulers is really a mark of the Catholic religion and of no other religion.

@dlongenecker1 It is well understood that the highest form of charity is to employ armed men to take money from the middle class and give it to one's friends who give it to the "poor" to buy their votes while skimming about 50% off the top.

It is certainly possible to subscribe to the Catholic Church's Social Teaching and be critical of the extent of the welfare state, the corruption and graft that accompanies it and the way it over reaches its authority and too often enables an indigent, entitled subculture. In fact it would be consistent with CST to do so.

We need one another, and we need God. When we acknowledge our fragility, our hearts become open to supporting one another and to invoking the One who can grant what no human power can ensure: the profound reconciliation of hearts and, with it, true #Peace. #ApostolicJourney #Algeria vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

My family and I save over $10,000 a year by rejecting the traditional healthcare system. Here's exactly how: 1) Crowd Health instead of traditional insurance. We ditched the $2,200/month premium and joined Crowd Health. It's a health sharing community (not insurance) where members cover each other's costs directly. Our monthly contribution is a fraction of what we were paying. If you haven't looked into this, you're leaving serious money on the table. 2) Self-pay for most services. Most people don't know this, but if you walk into a clinic or lab and pay cash, you'll likely get a 50% discount right off the top for most services. Hospitals and providers have a cash-pay rate you can access. You just have to ask. 3) Always request an itemized bill. After the birth of each of our children we got hit with a massive bill. We requested the itemized version, went line by line and found charges that made zero sense. We negotiated directly with the hospital and cut those bills by two-thirds. This works more often than people realize because hospitals expect you not to push back. 4) Get your own blood work done. You don't need a doctor's order to understand what's happening inside your body. You can access a full biomarker panel for a fraction of what you'd pay going through the traditional system. Many companies will even send the kits directly to your home saving your time and money. You can then use this data to stay ahead of problems before they become expensive ones. 5) Buy a deep freezer. It completely changes how you shop. You can fully leverage places like Costco which just passed Walmart as the most affordable grocery option in the country By buying in bulk and freezing what you don't use immediately you'll cut down on the daily grocery runs that always cost more than they should. The freezer pays for itself within a few months. 6) Source your meat directly from a local farmer. We buy a full cow once a year. The upfront cost feels big but the per-pound cost is a fraction of what you'd pay at the grocery store and the quality isn't close. This one habit alone probably saves us $1,500-$2,000 a year while dramatically improving the quality of what we're putting in our bodies. Find a local farmer, split the cost with a neighbor if you need to, and stop overpaying for mediocre meat. 7) Cook most of your meals at home. This sounds simple but the average American family spends $3,000-$5,000 a year eating out. We've cut that dramatically. But beyond the direct savings, the downstream effect is better blood sugar, less inflammation, lower risk of the chronic diseases that will eventually drain your retirement account. And that's the part nobody talks about. The real cost of being unhealthy isn't the doctor's bill you pay today. It's the $400,000+ the average American spends on healthcare in retirement. It's the medications that compound year after year. The surgeries, hospitalizations, and long-term care that quietly bleeds a nest egg dry before you ever get to enjoy it. The system isn't designed to keep you healthy. It's designed to manage your decline and siphon off everything you worked so hard for over the years. But you can decide to opt out with one intentional decision at a time. You don't have to accept the system as it is. You just have to be willing to do something about it.

If/when the Supreme Court hands out birthright citizenship to Chinese birth tourists, we’ll experience the most staggering act of lawlessness, cowardice, vanity, and betrayal. We’ll no longer be sovereign citizens. We’ll become subjects of judicial supremacists. Unacceptable.

Donald Trump thinks he can post an AI picture of himself as Jesus Christ and Christians will just scroll past it. He has no idea what he just did. Christians are not passive. They are the most spiritually fired up people on this planet. They believe the Holy Spirit lives inside them. It moves through them. It FIGHTS through them. Understand the internet belongs to people with spirit. And there is no group on Earth with more of it than believers in Christ. You just mocked their God to his face. On Orthodox Easter. An hour after you trashed the Pope. Your own base is revolting. Truth Social comments are on fire. MTG says it's an "Antichrist spirit." Your biggest cheerleaders are begging you to take it down. This is a warning: Christians built the backbone of this country and they dominate every corner of the internet. You don't get to play God and keep their loyalty.

So many people still in the “hilarious, don’t take things so seriously” stage of denial. This post was paired with an absurd and idiotic diatribe aimed at the Pope. One of the only clear signs of integrity left anymore is a person’s ability to rise above the social contagion of their own tribe.

One does not need to be a rocket scientist to realize that the reason Obama henchman David Axelrod met with Pope Leo last week was to coordinate a media propaganda blitz and quasi-color revolution designed to separate faithful American Roman Catholics from support for the MAGA agenda.
