Being cartographers of parasite surfaces, at molecular, functional and fitness levels, we’ve enjoyed reading this series of papers on data collection to atlas integration and beyond. @humancellatlas.bsky.social nature.com/immersive/d428…

32 years after the discovery of ISGs, we are finally gaining a better understanding of its role as a C3 receptor and interactions with innate immunity. The cryo-EM structures were fantastic! And so were the French madeleines Cat brought in. Thank you, Alex!

We very much enjoyed Alex Cook’s visit yesterday. He shared with us his latest work with @ParasiteMatt and Mark Carrington on the mechanisms by which ISG65 and C3 recognise and interact with each other. Check his piece in Trends below.

Yet another dull day in the boring life of some research scientists. Epic end of conference party at #mpm2024. If your parties are not like this you are in the wrong field and should study parasites!

Woods Hole triple bill for the GadLab: #KMCB2024, #MPM2024 and sandwiched in between @YIPS_2024. We presented the latest in DRiF-Seq technology, its applications in quorum sensing, and how we’ve tamed Trypanosoma vivax into a model system.
