Can someone help me understand, given Hamas didn’t just murder and kidnap Israelis on Oct 7, they killed and took Americans, Canadians, Brits etc, how in the hell it has taken nearly 500 days for ONE Leader from all those powerful nations to actually show even a modicum of backbone and stand up to this evil??? ANYONE???

(מתוך "גם זה קרה פה" בסופ"ש של גלובס) אחת העלויות המרגיזות ביותר לבעל רכב בהן היא הטסט השנתי לבדיקת תקינות הרכב. כדי לצלוח אותו נדרשים לשלם מס מיוחד וגם לשרוף יום עבודה או לשלם למוסך עוד כסף כדי שיטפלו בעניין במקומנו. ברוב מדינות המערב, לרבות באיחוד האירופי, יש חובה לבצע טסט פעם בשנתיים בלבד, ואין דרישה מיוחדת לרכב מיושן. בישראל אנחנו נדרשים לעשות טסט כל שנה, ויש דרישות מיוחדות לרכבים מעל גיל 15 - בזמן שישראלים נוהגים באותם כלי רכב מיובאים בדיוק כמו באירופה. יוזמה של משרד התחבורה, שמוגשת לאחר עבודת מטה של מספר שנים ובדחיפת רשות האסדרה החדשה, שואפת לשנות את זה. במסגרת ההצעה, תדירות הטסטים תופחת לפעם בשנתיים, יבוטלו דרישות הרישוי לנגררים, יבוטלו דרישות בירוקרטיות כמו הצגת ייפוי כוח ותצהיר בחתימת עו"ד, ומועדי חידוש הרשיונות ייפרסו באופן אחיד יותר לאורך השנה, כדי לצמצם את העומס במכוני הרישוי. בכך מקווים במשרד התחבורה וברשות האסדרה לחסוך לציבור 1.3 מיליארד שקל בשנה, ועוד 1.2 מיליון ימי המתנה בשנה. עם זאת, ממליצים ברשות האסדרה לעבור למודל זימון תורים דיגיטלי, וגם מציעים לבחון מחדש את הקריטריונים הנבדקים במבחנים הללו. בהרבה מאוד מובנים, ההצעה הזו הייתה צריכה להגיע מזמן. היא מבטלת ראסדרת-יתר מהסוג שלצערנו מאפיין את ישראל. במשרד התחבורה אומרים שהיוזמה הוזנקה לפני זמן רב, וכרגע נמצאת בשלבים מתקדמים, עם עבודת מטה שקרובה לסיום. מתי היא תיכנס לתוקף בפועל? זה תלוי בהחלטת הממשלה והכנסת. שכויח נדיר לרגב, ועם כל ההוצאות והגזרות שנופלות בימים אלה על כתפי הציבור, לא יזיק אם מישהו ישים גז על היוזמה הזו.

The humanitarian situation in northern Gaza is the worst we have seen since this horrific nightmare began. Our polio vaccination campaign should be underway now but we’ve been forced to suspend it due to relentless violence & a persistent lack of access. This places some of the war’s most vulnerable victims at further risk. And in the central Gaza Strip, a strike took the life of yet another one of our @UNRWA colleagues. We urgently need a ceasefire, the immediate & unconditional release of all hostages, effective aid delivery, an end to the occupation & irreversible progress toward a two-state solution.

We fully respect the independence of the ICC. The fact however that the leader of the terrorist organisation Hamas whose declared goal is the extinction of the State of Israel is being mentioned at the same time as the democratically elected representatives of that very State is non comprehensible.

The ICC Chief Prosecutor's proposal to issue an arrest warrant for the representatives of a democratically elected government together with the leaders of an Islamist terrorist organisation is appalling and completely unacceptable. We must not forget that it was Hamas that attacked Israel in October and killed, injured and kidnapped thousands of innocent people. It was this completely unprovoked terrorist attack that led to the current war in Gaza and the suffering of civilians in Gaza, Israel and Lebanon.
