@bensprattjourn Agreed and I understand the record fee has most likely led to the criticism from the likes of Shearer and Rooney on national TV. I think ultimately though no one knew what type of a player NUFC were truly getting (maybe even Howe) and perhaps we still don’t know. He needs time.

@GallowgateO The team haven’t consistently performed well, but I think some individuals have had stretches of positive form. I agree quite a bit of the criticism of Woltemade has been unfair, but it sometimes feels like those on the other side of the argument ignore his flaws, too.

Newcastle still waiting for a PL goal from a striker (Woltemade, Wissa, Osula) nine games into 2026. You can feel for Woltemade atm, struggling in a slightly alien role, but let’s not pretend he had been performing when used up front this side of Christmas

@Pooliemags1Ttv Haven’t seen it on TV but I was convinced they would get a penalty (along with a red card) due to that occasionally implemented rule of fouls continuing into the box. The VAR message on the screen was the foul was outside the box so surpised they didn’t look at DOGSO.

Burn was lucky he never got Lewis hall sent off yesterday as well with that pathetic header #nufc

@ToonFanPhil @premierleague @FA_PGMOL No idea where Van Dijk is offside or not, and they did mention on Sky commentary that there was a defender behind him, but we were never shown an actual picture from the match coverage that confirmed that. It’s a shambles all round. And obviously worse if you are in the ground.

@ToonFanPhil I don’t trust the @premierleague use of semi-automatic offside technology. It’s an inferior product to the one in use in the UEFA and FIFA competitions and still always requires the the intervention of an @FA_PGMOL VAR, who we’ve seen throughout the season are pretty incompetent.

Well if the certain feeder clubs to the SuperLeague6 get off their knees & grow a pair then the 14 will have enough votes to pass this. Essentially the PL would sell 60% of all pitch side ads to 10 companies. Meaning all the clubs would have an equal share. More money for the 14

What was the biggest mistake in the @AVFCOfficial v @NUFC game in the FA Cup yesterday? Looks like the Villa GK cost them the game not the match officials. Even the mistake on the free kick given that should have been a penalty, a goal was scored from the free kick, so it’s clear the Villa GK cost them the game not the match officials.👍

@ToonFanPhil Inexplicable that one. I assume he’ll be sitting at home next weekend, unless the fact we won takes the heat of him.

@GallowgateO The handball pen one was horrific. It was 2-3 yards in the box and he gives a free kick 2 yards outside the area.

Here we go 45mins of playing against a low block 10 man team. We have really struggled to break teams down when they have 11. This could be a long evening.

@GallowgateO @FA_PGMOL I'd argue they need a separate panel that aren't referees judging it, at least then they'll get less flack when mistakes are made. And increase the tolerances as well we're talking millimetres week in week out it's ridiculous

@ToonFanPhil He doesn’t like to shoot.. was getting exasperated toward the end of the Brentford game when he’s running with the ball in space toward goal but he will not have a shot!

@GallowgateO Yeah. He also needs to get his shot away if there is a chance to. Only had 1 half chance to shoot but needs to start letting fly. God dont get me started on the crosses!

@GallowgateO @FA_PGMOL Bang on mate, I think like you say they're being exposed for how reliant they've become on using the system compared to other leagues

@KieranRyan321 @FA_PGMOL With VAR the goal would have been disallowed, we’d have a least one penalty and Digne would have been sent off. Referees and assistants are so, so poor and exposed without the help of VAR.
