Kadokawa expressed in 2024 they were fearful of a hostile company takeover by a foreign country. Which is why they urged Sony to make a deal with them to buy 10% of their shares. This meant Sony would be the biggest shareholder of the company from that point onward. However there were fears with the direction Sony has been going it would lead to Censorship and Crunchyroll gaining more of a monopoly of anime in the West. The decision however was the lesser of two evils Now almost 2 years later, we have a foreign country starting to buy Kadokawa stocks and quickly rivaling the shareholder power of Sony. This company Oasis is a Hedge-Fund seeking to use Shareholder Activism to force a company to change directions if they want.
