Made this #IdleGame Prestige Curve Simulation. Every prestige wipes your progress and makes the next threshold 3× harder. But your income multiplier keeps growing. Feels like a trap on paper but pulls the player in to go for more! Made in itembase.dev/sim #gamedesign

hey Game Devs and Game Designers. Have been working on a new game idea today, pretty excited actually. Thinking about building in public, any thoughts on that? Is it worth it and will it help in the future for the launch. #indiedevs #gamedesign #gamedevs

@KakapoCalypse Yeah, agree. Too many games just copying each other and flooding the market. And with AI now it's even easier to clone mechanics and assets and push something out fast for a quick buck. So yeah, twists aren't optional anymore, they're the only way to stand out.

This is burned into my memory. I was working on a shooter with powers that the creative director also wanted to be a tactical extraction shooter. One of the powers let you push yourself around the map. We hosted a playtest for early community members and couple of content creators. We hadn’t implemented fall damage. The players started throwing themselves all over the map with this power, dive bombing each other, ambushing, every fight was intense, people were yelling and giving each other high fives. The creative director was pissed, demanded we tell them to stop, and then immediately nerfed the power and added fall damage. We had a group of 20 players jumping up and down, screaming at the monitor, and giving each other high fives…and we designed away from that. Worst decision I’ve ever been party to, even if it was not my decision.

@playmygamesnow bro the high fives are the metric. when players are literally jumping up and down screaming that's not a bug, that's a feature you stumbled into. the best emergent gameplay moments are the ones you didn't plan, and decision to "fix" it is such a classic creative director move.
