@delapilap @sapphicnightowl Her success is measured by money. It's a capitalist world. The female homemaker & male provider roles are still present, but aren't the powerful societal forces they used to be. All of this is pointless, it's an objective fact that it's easier to be openly lesbian, than a gay man

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl And they are berated for it exponentially more than men in similar positions, which is the exact fucking point I'm making. Women's success is not measured by society in how much money they have or how much power they achieve, but how well they raise a family...

@FemaleVampire99 @sapphicnightowl Straight love isn't Superior to gay love. But on a biological level, heterosexuality is absolutely the necessary one. I must say, I'm grateful my parents were straight. I think a little over 8.3 billion people feel the same

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl It shouldn't be the standard cause it's not the only sexuality in existence. The fact that it can generate babies doesn't make it "superior" to homosexuality. Also, there are many straight people who are child-free.

@FemaleVampire99 @sapphicnightowl It's natural and normal, but heterosexuality will forever be the standard. It's quite literally how the species exists. Expecting anything else is ridiculous. Acceptance is all we can aim for.

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl That's literally just not true. Men can be considered successful for things that have nothing to do with families. Some of the richest and most powerful men on earth are single, divorced, or have been divorced multiple times, and still garner great public respect for their power.

@FemaleVampire99 @sapphicnightowl I'm just realistic? Heteronormativity Will always be the standard. Humanity is built upon heterosexuality, straight to always be the majority of the population. To expect anything else is completely unrealistic

@GameinformerTM @ihateatsushi @sapphicnightowl Yes? That's relatively common with closeted gay people. Because of how omnipresent heterosexuality is, they end up conditioned to think they're straight until well into adulthood. It's a fairly well documented phenomenon. It sounds like she just didn't know.

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl Bull fucking shit. Women's entire perceived value in society is literally based on creating a family. Men can gain social value without being married, but women's perceived value, regardless of their personal achievements, are directly tied to "breeding" and creating a family.

@steview0nders_ I think he put it in a harsh way, but I feel like a sizable majority of gay men, are primarily attracted to "straight passing" men. Which is just to say a somewhat traditionally masculine man.

@FemaleVampire99 @sapphicnightowl Of course we live in heteranormative world. And it will always be that way, because that's how the species continues to exist. To expect anything other than acceptance, is a waste of time. But for them, on some level, you know you're not attracted to the person you're marrying

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl If we didn't live in an heteronormative society this wouldn't happen. Search the meaning of the word "heteronormativity" on Google.

@DarkHorseWrites @sapphicnightowl Platonically. Not romantically, never was she genuinely physically attracted to him. Those things were lies. Imagine looking back at your marriage and knowing your partner never felt those things about you genuinely

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl But she *did* love him, because she married him and had children with him and they were seemingly happy up until this point. This is a really complex situation, not a selfish one.

@ihateatsushi @sapphicnightowl No, I don't think being too harsh for any cause of divorce, other than infidelity, is necessary. But the insinuation that it is wrong to be upset at your spouse for marrying you without having genuinely been attracted to you or loved you in that way, is wrong is what I don't like

@GameinformerTM @sapphicnightowl I just think we shouldn’t be too harsh, if homophobia didnt exist, this wouldn’t be an issue but we live in an imperfect world so I don’t see us ever getting rid of this issue anytime soon, all we can do is try to improve things somewhat which we’re not doing a good job at imo
