@50PlusGamer1970 @Chris_Dring Nope, it doesn't because the lay offs have nothing to do with Game Pass. Xbox massively overhired during the pandemic, as did many other studios, because everyone was at home playing games. That's not sustainable in the long term hence these layoffs.

Ok, I need to correct/clarify something. First, Xbox Game Pass is profitable, even when you factor in the lost sales for its first-party teams, sources who would know have told me. Over 18 months ago, I checked with Xbox about what’s included in the Game Pass P&L. Basically, I was looking to see if Game Pass’s costs factor in the impact to unit sales of their internal studios. I was told that first-party games have their own P&L separate to Game Pass as they make money via other means. I felt this piece of internal accountancy might mean Game Pass is profitable, but it sure does put pressure on the margins for its internal games and POSSIBLY means some studios don’t make as much profit (or any profit at all). That doesn’t actually matter in real terms, but seeing the impact Game Pass was having on first-party games, and the amount of money Xbox was spending on studios, I wanted to check if the full impact of the service was being considered in their ‘Game Pass is profitable’ line. (This was before Xbox started publishing fully on PS5. Studios can now make stronger margins on premium sales as a result of that move) But regardless to all that. sources have reached out to tell me that even when you include lost revenue associated with first-party party games (not just unit sales, but microtransactions), Game Pass is still profitable. So… that’s great! Right. Tony Hawks is out. Let’s get back to that!

Apparently a line I said in my podcast has been picked up. It was the one around some publishers/developers being baffled by Xbox’s strategy of putting games on PS5, and questioning why they’d support Xbox if they’re not going to grow the console. Three things to clarify: 1. Xbox’s third-party support is stronger than ever. You can see that through Game Pass deals, relationships with Square, Sega etc… There's no evidence at all of people walking away from Xbox (quite the opposite) 2. This part of the podcast was really to point out the transitional challenge Xbox has in keeping publishers happy with the Xbox console, while pushing their multi-format strategy. I don’t believe for a second we’re going to see many companies (if any) move away from Xbox, despite what a few might be grumbling in private. The whole industry strategy is multi-platform. 3. Ultimately, I believe Xbox’s strategy is great. It’s just there's a transitonal challenge they need to manage. But they can do it. Xbox + Game Pass is still one of the best value deals you can get in video games.

@TheTankBall @SpartanA376 It is on PC, the version of Halo Forge on PC runs on the Halo 5 Guardians code. They never got time to port the campaign as 343 had to start work on Infinite in time to make the Series console debut.

Hi. The actual reason Halo 5 will never receive a PC port is because its code is bad, and it wouldn't work. Even in a controlled environment with the FPS and fov locked, it's a miracle that it can run on the Xbox. To port 5 would mean remaking the entire game from the ground up.

They're still Ps5 games that were timed exclusives ported to PC (which are often pretty poor ports for a solid year)
