@danaparish 24hr is not accurate. Prevention means everything and treatment should be at least 3 months for any bite regardless of attachment time

This may be tick bite standard of care but it DOES NOT PREVENT LYME. There is no evidence 1 dose doxy does anything other than poss prevent a Lyme rash, muddying the waters. Many experts in tick-borne diseases treat tick bites immediately- BEFORE RASH OR SYMPTOMS- w/2 wks abx.

@cocomarvgrows That’s weird. The standard of care is if was attached less than 24 hours is to give a single dose of doxycycline. If more than 24 hours attached it’s a full course. Maybe it’s different for children. Hmm

@danaparish Early treatment is the key but sometimes it's a matter of knowing you got bit. I didn't know i got bit and struggled 7 years before they knew what was wrong with me

🤯 PREVENTABLE w early treatment!
A tick bite that transmitted Lyme & Babesia (a malaria-like pathogen spread by ticks) paralyzed 31-y/o. Symptoms started w minor “aches & pains” & progressed to paralysis! FYI- babesia is NOT rare, as claimed here. Add some zeroes to the stats. Most cases are never officially reported/ tracked.
She was not treated early enough w simple antibiotics & damage may mean she doesn’t fully recover. MDs “were initially convinced that she had an autoimmune disease.”
If your body goes off the rails like this, LOOK FOR INFECTIONS! There is ALWAYS A CAUSE. This was the premise of our book, there is a trove of data linking stealth pathogens across the spectrum of “autoimmune,” chronic, neuro, & psych diseases. Treating cause is king.
