@TRIPSTER0 Sony wanted full control of the licencing, royalties and software rights to all CD based games. It meant Nintendo would be paying a licencing fee for their own IP on their hardware. So it was Sony that backstabbed them, but sure. Make Sony out to be the victim.

@GamingRct I had an old machine laying around with a roomy case. AM4 chipset Ryzen 5 5700X (super efficient) I tossed in 32GB GDDR4 and an RX 9060 XT 16GB bc it’s roughly in line with my PS5 Pro. Efficiency and affordability were my main goals. Any major upgrades will need a new board 😬

And Sony has been hit or miss when it comes to "inventions": Walkman was a huge one, but "betamax" (in Video space) was a flop. They had CD success (thanks to Phillips) and DVD/Bluray success thanks to others

@JuiceMan_V It's because they went with the mini discs instead of full DVDs. Third parties we're sick of Nintendo doing stupid shit. Cartridges with the Nintendo 64 was what held Nintendo back from a lot of third-party support

@JuiceMan_V If you are Nintendo just barely surviving a "coup d'état" to their IP (snes cd deal gone bad) you would be hesistant to go with the main format the competitors used and you needed to pay royalties for, LMAO. Panasonic gave them a secure format for GC, N64 didnt have that.
