@Ganu492 @1shankarsharma Could have been the best spot around mumbai, but it’s been just another real estate scam and local toll unionists and cabs and same poor infrastructure. Could be spot for adventure sports like para gliding to bungee jumping and so much more. Tourism needs development.

I am willing to lay the opposite bet. I was with the 3 foreign tourists recently in India for a few days. When you look at it from the lens of F2 tourists, barring Taj Mahal & Rajasthan Palace Hotels, there is nothing else that they want to see here with they cannot get anywhere else. ( And of course the approach to the Taj ,less said the better) International cards don't work in many many places. They don't want to carry a lot of cash around because of safety. The dirt, squalor ( just outside beautiful Deer park in Delhi, there is a dump truck permanently parked and never cleaned. Non existent roads and payments in most parts Terrible driving ethics whether it is on red light or coming the same way in a one way road whether it is within the city or on highways People who are not cultured or polite or even with basic manners of holding doors open or saying thank you Eg, Goa could have been our Bali , Phuket. But for that we need a swinging liberal culture not moral policing. And yes we need garbage free roads. Out of the 90 lakh tourists every year that come, I am counted a minimum of 20 times because I visit India that many times per year. NRIs are probably 40- 50% of that number. Genuine F2s, F2- esses are probably half. Other countries have not stood still and they have executed. People want amazing places to spend money on. Bali has 80 lakh tourists. Happening night life. Super cheap. Phuket too. Vietnam. Here we only talk and that's where it ends. But yes, this opportunity is a permanent past , present and future opportunity

Tourism can be India’s next trillion dollar story... if we just get the basics right. 🌍🇮🇳 #IndiaTourism #EconomicGrowth

💯 agree, tourism in india has only gone south. The moment any place starts having even some traction entire local goons, politicians, language worriers, scammers all get activated…. Even small hill stations like matheran, lonavala and igatpuri or lavassa around mumbai are just getting worse

Jai Maharashtra, Two days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to Indians to adopt austerity. Reduce gold purchases, avoid unnecessary foreign travel, consume less petrol and diesel, shift to electric vehicles, and embrace work-from-home practices. Why? Because gold and crude oil are imported, and they drain precious foreign exchange reserves. And with the Iran conflict escalating, global crude prices have surged sharply. Fair enough. But the Prime Minister and senior leaders continue to travel across the country with massive convoys, roadshows, helicopters, flower showers, and extravagant political campaigns. Will the prime minister admit that ‘such political excesses were our mistake, and all of us including me, will not repeat it’? Why should the common man suffer for your mistakes? Is austerity meant only for the citizen and never for the political class? Crude oil today is hovering around 90–100 dollars per barrel. But this is not the first time the world has seen such prices. During the 2008 financial crisis, during the Arab Spring of 2011–12, and the 2013–14 phase (when the BJP itself aggressively attacked the UPA over fuel prices) and again during the OPEC production cuts in 2022–23, crude prices had similarly touched these levels. During 3-4 such periods Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi himself held the position once. Dr. Manmohan Singh did not ask citizens to stop travelling abroad. Narendra Modi himself did not make such appeals earlier either. So why now? When global crude prices had fallen to nearly 60–65 dollars per barrel, Indian citizens were still paying extremely high prices for petrol and diesel because of heavy taxation. The government earned lakhs of crores through fuel taxes. Where did that money go? The Prime Minister once mocked the “freebie culture.” Yet elections - from Maharashtra to Bihar to West Bengal - are increasingly fought and won through precisely such populist giveaways. In Maharashtra, the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme has put tremendous strain on state finances. Instead of genuinely empowering women through jobs, education, and safety, governments distribute temporary cash benefits while inflation silently takes back much of that money. If the economic situation is indeed serious, will the Prime Minister openly ask all political parties to stop competitive populism? The PM now asks citizens to reduce fuel consumption. Fine. But why did this wisdom not emerge during massive election campaigns involving thousands of vehicles, endless roadshows, and the transport of lakhs of supporters across states like West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala? That itself would have burnt crores of liters of petrol and diesel. This didn’t occur to you when massive money power was wielded to gain votes there? Citizens are also being advised to avoid foreign travel. But how many Indians can afford international travel today? Even the middle class that can afford it is living under constant job insecurity. Students wish to study abroad because India has not invested deeply enough in higher education over the last decade, nor created enough confidence in domestic institutions. All you seem to be interested in is imposition of Hindi. Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors have been steadily pulling money out of Indian markets. Estimates suggest that nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore has exited over the past few months. The Prime Minister and his Chief Ministers travel to colder climates to cement investment deals. But if they are making those deals with Indian companies, why even go to Switzerland for it? The Prime Minister himself is embarking on another multi-country foreign tour beginning May 15. First cancel these travels and then preach austerity.

Declare gold a sin good. Just like tobacco and alcohol. Impose 200% duty on import of gold. People will naturally stop buying gold. It will mean short term pain but reduced dollar outflow and better rupee and CAD support.

@kushanmitra Where does this notion come from that football fans in India and China won’t stay up all night to watch the World Cup? Most international football matches already happen past midnight, and true football fans still watch them. It’s people outside that fan culture think otherwise.

India’s Prime Minister @narendramodi in his speech in Hyderabad called for a collective participation to help India face global economic disruptions, supply chain challenges, and rising prices caused by international conflicts. He emphasized that patriotism is not only about sacrificing one’s life for the nation, but also about living responsibly and fulfilling duties towards the country during difficult times. He Urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption by: Using metros and public transport wherever available Opting for car-pooling when private vehicles are necessary Preferring railway transport for movement of goods Increasing the use of electric vehicles wherever possible Called for revival of Covid-era efficiency measures in national interest, including: * Work-from-home arrangements * Online conferences * Virtual meetings He Appealed to citizens to help conserve foreign exchange reserves by: Avoiding unnecessary foreign travel, overseas vacations and foreign weddings Choosing domestic tourism and celebrations within India Requested people to avoid non-essential gold purchases for one year in order to reduce pressure on foreign exchange outflows. Encouraged citizens to prioritise Made-in-India and locally manufactured products, including daily-use items such as shoes, bags, and accessories. Asked families to reduce edible oil consumption, stressing that it would benefit both national economic health and personal health. He Urged farmers to: * Reduce chemical fertiliser usage by 50 percent * Move towards natural farming practices * Help protect soil health and reduce import dependence * Encouraged wider adoption of solar-powered irrigation pumps instead of diesel pumps in agriculture.

#WATCH | Secunderabad, Telangana | On the impact of West Asia conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "... Gold purchases are another area where foreign exchange is used extensively... #WATCH | Secunderabad, Telangana | On the impact of West Asia Conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "In this time of global crisis, we have to make a resolution keeping duty paramount and fulfil it with complete dedication. A big resolution is to use petrol and diesel sparingly. We must curb our use of petrol and diesel. In cities with metro lines, we should decide to travel by metro only. If we must use a car, then we should try to carpool... People with electric vehicles should try to use them as much as possible. During the Corona period, we developed many systems of work from home, online meetings, and video conferences, and we even became accustomed to them. Today, the demands of the times are such that if we restart these systems, it will be in the national interest. We must prioritise work from home, online conferences, and virtual meetings again. We must also place a strong emphasis on saving foreign exchange, as petrol and diesel have become so expensive globally... It is our responsibility to save the foreign currency spent on purchasing petrol and diesel... The growing culture of weddings abroad, travelling abroad, and vacationing abroad is becoming prevalent among the middle class. We must decide that during this time of crisis, we should postpone travelling abroad for at least a year..." (Source: DD News)

My suggestions to the @MTPHereToHelp to get Mumbai back to civilised ways: - police issue fair warning that the following will be strictly enforced from a stated date - driving on the wrong side of the road results in automatic confiscation of vehicle. Can be recovered once at say 15% of vehicle book value. Similar offence again results in vehicle being impounded n auctioned publicly - if you have an accident running a light or for wrong side driving; then the driver who was correct is automatically absolved of any punishment. The onus is completely on the idiot breaking a very basic rule of the road - running a light should result in crippling fines commensurate wt the value of the vehicle; like in Switzerland. There, for example, a Ferrari breaking a rule is fined significantly higher for the same offence than a cheaper vehicle is - A 100 vehicles seized by the police and I’m certain people will think twice before they break the rules Further suggestions most welcome Mumbaikars Let’s not tolerate this highly dangerous epidemic anymore Action Now…!!!
