Bismillah… As the end of mandate for the Federal Government of Somalia on May 15, 2026 gets closer, the need for a way forward political settlement becomes paramount. Since the so called “Madal” is effectively broken apart or disbanded, the Somali Future Council represents the views of the opposition & should negotiate a way forward with the government. Throwing jabs, ignoring & disqualifying each other is reprehensible & will lead to more conflict. The Somali people & international community expect a joint resolution of the outstanding political issues in a timely manner & before the end of mandate. Both sides must compromise for the sake of the country & save the third Somali Republic. In the absence of written document on outstanding political issues, below is a table I put together describing critical differences that need immediate resolution. Bismillah.. Below is a proposal to resolve Somali election year transition issues as the mandate of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud comes to end end on the 15th of May, 2026. The proposal is intended to begin dialogue and diffuse political conflict in Somalia. Closing the gap on critical differences between government and the opposition will, hopefully, lead to an agreement on a new political dispensation to move the country forward. At a time when global world order is, at best, uncertain and no longer works for the little guy, political stability and social cohesion may be the only guarantee for state survival.
