Some good news: youth rough sleeping is down by almost half in London. To everyone who’s helped make this possible, from the teams at City Hall to sector partners and outreach workers: thank you. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Devolution works. More power to local communities. Less control from Whitehall. Andy Burnham is delivering on his commitment to shift power out of Whitehall and into the hands of local communities. Giving mayors a share of tax means more power for places, with decisions shaped by the people who live and work there - not by Whitehall. It's a move away from competitive bidding for funding and towards long-term investment, local accountability and trust in local leaders. That's how we build stronger communities, stronger local economies and a stronger country.
Andy Burnham@andyburnham

I promised to take power out of Westminster. I meant it. For the first time ever, we’re giving Mayors a share of income tax so communities have more control over jobs, transport, housing and public services in their area. I know what it’s like to be ignored by politicians in Westminster. I won’t make that same mistake as Prime Minister.

My focus is on giving people breathing space with the cost of living. That’s why I want to make sure eligible households get the £150 Warm Home Discount. If you're eligible, make sure you're named on your energy bill by 23 August to automatically receive the rebate this winter.

A cleaner, greener London 💙🌿 We’ve made huge progress tackling air pollution, but there is more to do. From cleaner air to healthier rivers and greener spaces, this is about building a city that works for everyone. Great to see @MayorofLondon continuing to take action to protect London’s environment for future generations. 🌊
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan@MayorofLondon

The Prime Minister spoke about a new kind of politics. Today's social care announcement puts that into action. For families across Peckham, good social care means dignity for loved ones, support for carers and less pressure on our NHS. Working across party lines to tackle one of the country's biggest challenges, with the public at the heart of reform. Share your views in Baroness Casey's Big Conversation on Care: caseycommission.co.uk/bigconversation Together, we can build a care system that works for everyone.

I saw for myself what nearly 100 families in Coalsnaughton impacted by historic coal mining have been through. I want to reassure those affected that no one will shoulder the burden alone. The UK Government is stepping in alongside @MiningRemAuth, @ClacksCouncil & @ScotGov.

You will see this as a determined drive that you have not seen before from a British government. Buying British not “if possible”, but by design. So every procurement pound supports British jobs, British apprenticeships and British skills. thesun.co.uk/news/39871373/…

Aberdeen has been at the heart of Britain’s energy story for generations. I’ve seen first-hand the skills, expertise & ambition that continue to make the region an energy powerhouse. The people who have powered Britain for decades will be central to building our energy future too.

Britain doesn't need more decisions made in Whitehall. It needs more power in the hands of people and places that know their communities best. That's exactly what No 10 North will deliver. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

We've cut VAT on electricity bills from 1 October and taken £150 off energy bills for the years to come. I've written to suppliers to make sure savings reach every customer, no matter what tariff they’re on. Tackling the cost of living is at the heart of our 10-year plan.
John Healey@JohnHealey_MP

Today I and Energy Secretary @Miatsf wrote to energy companies thanking those that will pass on the VAT tax cut to customers from 1 October.   By working together, we can ensure families and households across the country feel the benefit of these savings.
