@PeterStefanovi2 This would be the same Lord Pillock who advocated leaving the EEC in both the 1983 and 1987 General Elections, subsequently became an EU commissioner and now receives a generous EU pension. Or is there another one?

@SarahLudford And I'm willing to bet that “Asked to identify the primary benefits of remaining in the EU, the most common response, by a wide margin, was ‘don’t know’

Brexit ended Britons right to live, work and study in 30 countries. EU citizens only lost that right in one country. Brexit is like a football team losing 30–1.

@revell_norman @andrewhesselden If you believe PR offers "stability" you'd better DM me your bank details as I've been left a sum of money from an uncle I didn't know I had and he wanted the money distributed to good causes.....

Two-thirds of people across the EU would support the UK rejoining, according to a new survey, with backing stretching even into some far-right and Eurosceptic voter groups. The idea that Europe doesn't want Britain back is becoming harder and harder to sustain. The Guardian reports: theguardian.com/politics/2026/… #RejoinEU #SaveFOM

@andrewhesselden Who'd have thought - now they're having to pay the the ~15% of the EU budget the UK was, they want the UK back.

@JossSheldon Yes! Yes! 100%! Same here in the USA, Joss. Same. To do so we have to shift to a labor owned economy.

We don't need to change Prime Ministers every two years. We need to change the system once and for all. Neoliberalism has failed. We need an economy which serves the 99.99%, not the 0.01%.

@JossSheldon Mmm. What you seem to be proposing is totalitarian socialism. I mean, you're right, places like Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea haven't had the frequency of leadership changes we have, but I'm not sure their economic performance and living standards makes it an attractive option.

No one should be celebrating what seems certain to be the imminent departure of #Starmer & arrival of our 7th PM in 10 years Something has gone horribly wrong in British politics. Stability & competence were key parts of what made us a great country. Poorer quality politicians, the cheapening of political debate (in part social media but also MSM) & rise of so called populism led to #Brexit & the decision to leave #EU just exacerbated the demise of competent Govt, sensible politics & decent politicians.

@michaelwhite Erm, Mikeyboy, any comment about this from crayon-eater Rayner back in 2022 though ? If Sunak lacked legitimacy - bearing in mind he'd been a sitting MP for some time, surely Burnham has zero legitimacy.

@hewantswealth "Forcing innocent people back into the office" ignorant post since these trains were heading *towards* London in the late afternoon when rush hour traffic is predominantly heading the other way.

Forcing innocent people back into the office instead of working from home on a Friday, but don’t even have the rail infrastructure to carry people safely, with reasonable fare and on-time! UK is a hot mess. Praying for the injured 🙏🏾🚂

I am absolutely delighted at Andy Burnham’s victory in Makerfield. Not only is it brilliant news for the people in his constituency, but it’s also great news for the entire country.

@AndyMcDonaldMP If rail ownership costs £0 why TF are we giving the rail network £12bn a year subsidy?

Rail nationalisation costs nothing. When franchise contracts with the likes of Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Trenitalia and Deutsche Bahn run out, you simply do not renew them. They revert to public ownership, it costs you zero and you stop seeing that money flood out of the country.

@AndyMcDonaldMP Except those franchisees paid money to the treasury for the franchise or, at least competed with each other to reduce costs. Whereas GBR will be a money pit, held to ransom by your mates in ASLEF and the RMT. The loser here will be the taxpayer.

@michaelwhite Ah, good old Mikeyboy the senile at work again. Always the fault of the plebs for not voting for who you want them to isn't it? It's why the liberal left are never successful - they don't offer people what they want and tell them they're thick for not wanting what they do offer.

Every voting system has its weaknesses, Jerry, and no voting system can save us from thieving, violent and dishonest politics if we decide to vote for such charlatans in even modest numbers
Jerry🇪🇺🚴🏻‍♂️🐈 🐆 #FBPE #LibDem #NotMyKing@JerryTaylor

@michaelwhite If we had a PR voting system then Reform wouldn’t get a majority in a general election. And of course Starmer wouldn’t have had a landslide to enable him to make a complete Horlicks of things.
