@poetwithpace The average finish time at Exmouth parkrun, (137,524 finishes across 354 events) including all ages, genders, and the people that walk is 29:15. Other 5K events probably aren't much different, so I'd say that table is nonsense.

@jgault13 WA decision validated. These three results suggests the car drafting was worth around 40s advantage at WR pace.

Jacob Kiplimo breaks the half marathon world record in Lisbon for the second time. 57:31 in 2021. And now 57:20 on Sunday morning. Kiplimo was extra excited in his celebrations given World Athletics did not ratify his 56:42 in Barcelona last year.

@CitiusMag The correct decision in my opinion. He was far too close and the chose to stay directly behind the car where the road was wide and straight. Also the guy on the top and the guy leaning out the window were part of Kiplimo's team, talking to him throughout.

According to a report from Runner's World Spain, 🇺🇬Jacob Kiplimo's 56:42 half marathon world record set at last year's Barcelona Half Marathon will NOT be ratified by World Athletics. For months, there's been speculation over whether Kiplimo was aided by his proximity to the lead pace car. World Athletics has not set any rule for the distance a race vehicle must be positioned relative to the leading athlete. However, Kiplimo was estimated to be 10 to 20 meters behind the vehicle that displayed the race clock all throughout the race. Kiplimo's performance took 48 seconds off 🇪🇹 Yomif Kejelcha’s previous world record. Kejelcha's 57:30 from the 2024 Valencia Half Marathon will remain the world record recognized by World Athletics. The 2026 Barcelona Half Marathon is on February 15th. Kiplimo is currently preparing for the London Marathon in April. Kejelcha is set to make his marathon debut there. On Monday, World Athletics ratified three world records, but Kiplimo's half marathon was not among them.

@poetwithpace This is a copy/paste from my Strava entry for the Swansea Half in June this year; "Funniest moment post-race. Seeing that Strava has revised its prediction from 1:43:38 down to 1:42:11 the day I ran an actual half marathon in 1:41:48. AI still has a long way to go!"

@bourne_beth2345 He/she/whatever pretended to be a faster runner too. Wave F was for participants who'd indicated they'd finish in the range 3:45 to 3:59.

Tokyo 🇯🇵 Marathon in the books, next up 2025 Boston Marathon!! 👀 👀 Yesterday this man pretending to be woman, Robert Young, aka “Riya Suising” who often wears a sexy bumble bee costume to races, placed 5382 with a time of 5:07:54 in the Women’s division of the Tokyo Marathon. According to @hecheateddotorg, "Riya Suising" has participated in the women's Boston Marathon race 14 times. I used to race against him in the women’s cross-country races in San Francisco in the early 2010s. 🧵 @icons_women @SexMattersOrg @WomenAreReals @xx_xyathletics @JenniferSey @Riley_Gaines_ @Martina

@poetwithpace For me "feeling unwell all week" means either run it for fun, or DNS. I don't trust watch HRV, so it wouldn't influence my decision.

For those who track HRV on their watches. If your HRV is low and you been feeling unwell all week, do you still turn up to race or do you rest? FYI, it’s not me 🤪

@letsrundotcom @jgault13 re. Kiplimo WR, I watched it all live. This is how close he was to the lead car for most of the race. Surely this can't be allowed? A terrible precedent if it is.

@poetwithpace This. Over 600 pages of fantastic advice from the pre-tech era that still stands up today. For example the Robin Williams mention is in a paragraph advising you to run in a group if possible to make your long runs more enjoyable.

@metoffice Seems like a really small range between the two temperature extremes. Are there any stats available anywhere about the average gap, record gaps, anything like that?

@poetwithpace @parkrun I realise they're not over ear, but to ban headphones other than those sold by their sponsors would be a terrible look.

I’ve seen a few near misses at some Parkruns I’ve been to with folks wearing full over ear headphones. Will @parkrun be banning these especially as many of the events now are so crowded and congested?

Not trying to make other Todds jealous here, but if you google "Todd poker", I'm now the first result. I've been working 23 years to become Google's #1 Todd in poker, and it's finally happened. I feel like I'm going to wake up, realize this is a dream, and be back on page 2.

Still defying the ageing process somehow. In 2015 I tried and failed to break 1:45 in the Cardiff Half Marathon. Yesterday I broke 1:35 at The Goodwood Running Grand Prix Half Marathon. 8 years older, 10 mins faster! Thank-you @Lea1163, I couldn't have done it without you xx

Happy times! At 3:00am this morning, while working, I received an e-mail with a wonderful surprise. By participating in a virtual race I've won a hard-to-get guaranteed place in the Tokyo Marathon 2025. Japan here we come! 🥂🇯🇵✈️🏃‍♂️
