🎉 Happy Birthday to veteran Geoffrey Roberts, who turned 100 today!
Earlier this week, Geoff received an MBE from The Princess Royal for his charity work and services to the commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem.
Geoff was part of Operation Market Garden, an Allied military operation carried out during the Second World War. During his time at war, he was sent to a Prisoner of War camp where he was put to work in a coal mine until the war ended.
Last year, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem, The Princess Royal and Geoff took part in commemorations to remember those who died during the Battle.

@doctor_rahmeh TRTWorld graphic! Many scholars describe TRT as a "propaganda arm of Erdoğan. The term "pro-Israel lobby" can be broad and encompass various individuals and groups. Some donors might be individuals who are simply supportive of Israel's right to exist.

This is Israel’s century. The countries that will not only survive but thrive will be those with conviction in their values and the courage and resilience to defend them. Now is the time to rouse ourselves from the post-Cold War torpor of identity politics and self-hatred. Yet our bankrupt leaders refuse to release us. @1james_elder The catastrophe in Gaza is horrific. Any child's death or injury is a tragedy. However, your article in the Guardian is misleading. You stated 50,000 deaths/ injuries to children. UN's report Children in Armed Conflict verified 1,259 Palestinian children killed and 941 wounded.

Al Jazeera has published the names of every journalist killed since Oct 7th. 231 Palestinian journalists have been slaughtered in Gaza. A whole generation of reporters wiped out while many of their colleagues in the West simply shrugged.

"The claim the BBC took down a story after reviewing footage is completely wrong. We did not remove any story and we stand by our journalism.
"Our news stories and headlines about Sunday's aid distribution centre incident were updated throughout the day with the latest fatality figures as they came in from various sources. These were always clearly attributed, from the first figure of 15 from medics, through the 31 killed from the Hamas-run health ministry to the final Red Cross statement of ‘at least 21’ at their field hospital. This is totally normal practice on any fast-moving news story.
"Completely separately, a BBC Verify online report on Monday reported a viral video posted on social media was not linked to the aid distribution centre it claimed to show. This video did not run on BBC news channels and had not informed our reporting. Conflating these two stories is simply misleading.
"It is vital to bring people the truth about what is happening in Gaza. International journalists are not currently allowed into Gaza and we would welcome the support of the White House in our call for immediate access."
