It's a long and convoluted process. So they would need to be very suspicious of something you are doing online. That's the short of it.

@YukonStrong @DThespud15601 @elonmusk But C22 has nothing to do with VPN blocking. Its strictly to do with surveillance. If you use a VPN, the feds can't block it...but they can court order the VPN provider to hand over logs. Proton does not log, and would need a swiss court order.

@crowbrr @YukonStrong @elonmusk Look, Starlink is just another ISP. If you are using a VPN service like Proton or Mullvad, your data goes through that. So if you are on a VPN in another country, they can't obtain those logs because they don't even keep logs.

@YukonStrong @elonmusk I've looked into this, and as long as Starlink maintains an official (legal) presence in Canada they'll have to comply with all regulations. I too hope this will change though...

And in order to even do that, the Canadian government has to put a request in through Swiss courts and that in itself will probably get thrown out.
