This video from Abby Ramos Stanutz is exactly what we were hoping #WhatMakesAGreatPrincipal would become! Loved her chapter in the book and I am so grateful that she was one of the 15 contributors to share a chapter on a great principal who had made a difference in their lives. You can check out the book at tiny.cc/WMAGP @AllysonApsey

The first day of school is quickly approaching! Teachers, here are ten important reminders as we mentally and emotionally prepare ourselves for today and the days ahead. 🔹 Many parents are doing the very best they know how to do - not the best they can YET, but the best they know how. Help them become their best for their kid. 🔺 Parents are sending us the best they have. Kids deserve the very best we can give them. Replace criticism with compassion. 🔹 Don’t tell a child, “You know better.” Oftentimes, they don’t. Teach them, don’t shame them. 🔺 Do whatever it takes to reach *that kid*. If you can reach *that kid*, you can reach all kids. 🔹 Kids didn’t sign up for a distracted, negative teacher. Give your students the best of you, not what’s left of you. Take care of yourself first so you can better pour into your students. 🔺 There will be a child walking through your door this morning who desperately needs a champion. Love them enough to learn their story and redirect their pathway. 🔹 What you say about your school and the people who fill it will either carry or trample the banner. There is no in between. You are the beginning of your school’s reputation. 🔺Connection over content. Always. In that order. But don’t fall prey to thinking content doesn’t matter. Education is the GATEWAY. 🔹We all fall down, but just because we have fallen doesn’t mean we have failed. We fail when we choose to not stand back up. Find your grit. 🔺Be positive. It’s as simple as that. We have the most important job in the world - the job that prepares the next generation for all future jobs. You’ve got this! Now get out there and kick butt on the first day and every day after that! Let’s GO!👊🏼 [The night before school starts always gets me in my feels. Below is a picture of me my first year as a teacher, in my first classroom, on my first day. 😉🤍]

Nick Saban once said... “If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader; sell ice cream.” Leadership is hard. It is earned. It is an inside-out process. What are the Traits of the Best Team Leaders? Here are 9 of them. 1: Commitment Level Everything in team success begins with Commitment. Your leaders HAVE to be committed. They are bought in. They have put in the time. They are invested, and because of that, TEAM success means something to them. 2: Work Ethic The best leaders are your hardest workers. They lead by example with how hard they work. They bring out this work ethic in others. 3: Trusted and Respected Great team leaders have the trust and respect of their teammates. They have EARNED this trust. They make good choices. They treat their teammates well. They are inclusive. 4: We > Me The best team leaders are about TEAM success. They have a broad-based perspective. They want what is best for the Team. They are willing to do what it takes to help the Team win. It is not about them. 5: Competitive Spirit Great leaders are highly competitive. They want to Win. They know HOW to win. This spirit is contagious with others on the team. This spirit creates a culture of winning and success. 6: Bought into the Culture The best leaders are bought into the team culture. They are the "Gatekeepers" of the team culture. The "True" Culture of the team is the standard that team leaders allow. This is incredibly important in successful teams. 7: Relationship Builders The best team leaders connect and build relationships with ALL of their teammates. They understand the power of positive interaction and energy and the impact this has on a team. 8: Willing to Hold Others Accountable The best team leaders are willing to confront and challenge teammates when needed. They become "junior firefighters" and put out the small fires behind the scenes that can happen in a team. They hold others Accountable. 9: They Inspire The best leaders have the ability to inspire their teammates and those around them. It is hard to do. This is the pinnacle of leadership. _____ Follow me @gregberge for Actionable Ideas on Coaching, Leadership, Culture, and Teams. Subscribe to my free weekly newsletter: gregberge.beehiiv.com

@RogersHistory You stay because kids are worth it and the reason you went into the job in the first place. It is not a job it is a vocation.

Kobe Bryant said, “If you’re going to be a leader, you’re not going to please everybody. You gotta hold people accountable even if you have that moment of being uncomfortable.” Great leaders don't try to please everyone. Great leaders know that it isn't their title or position, it is about their behavior. Leadership means doing more. Great leaders connect and influence. Leadership is about your actions - how you set an example, how you interact with others, and how you create a standard for performance. 7 Leadership Competencies Everyone Needs: 1. Build relationships - It starts with connection and caring. Building relationships allows you, as a leader, to establish trust, foster collaboration, and create a positive work environment where teamwork thrives. 2. Create accountability - Leaders set the standard. Creating accountability empowers you to ensure individuals take ownership of their actions, promoting responsibility and driving performance for the overall success of the team and organization. 3. Drive Change - Leadership is about coping and creating change. It enables you to navigate and adapt to evolving environments, inspire innovation, and strategically guide people towards growth and improvement. 4. Develop People - Great leaders develop others. They focus on nurturing talent, empowering others, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organization under your leadership. 5. Communicate effectively - Communication is the real work of leadership. It allows you to articulate a clear vision, inspire and motivate others, and build strong relationships with stakeholders, enhancing organizational alignment and success. 6. Think Critically - It involves analyzing complex situations, making informed decisions, and solving problems effectively, enabling you to navigate challenges and drive strategic outcomes. 7. Inspire others - It involves motivating and influencing individuals, aligning their efforts towards a shared vision, and creating a sense of purpose and engagement within the team under your leadership, resulting in increased productivity and success. “Leadership is not a license to do less. Leadership is a responsibility to do more.” - Simon Sinek - - - Follow @coachajkings for more content like this!
