In 2022, @Gavi’s HPV vaccine revitalisation programme set an ambitious target of reaching more than 86 million adolescent girls with the HPV vaccine by 2025. I’m delighted that lower-income countries exceeded this target by protecting 95 million girls against #cervicalcancer – 79 million in the past three years alone. Every dose administered brings renewed hope that cervical cancer could be the first cancer to ever be eliminated:

Discharging the last #Ebola patient in the midst of a rapidly evolving and complex outbreak is testament to the strength of Uganda’s health system and offers important lessons to other countries facing challenging outbreaks. I join the call for continued vigilance and close coordination to help ensure this outbreak can officially be declared over:

Today, #Uganda has discharged the last #Ebola patient, a Congolese national who has successfully recovered and ready to be with his family. We now begin the 42-day countdown required before Uganda can officially declare the outbreak over, in line with international guidelines. While we celebrate this achievement, we urge everyone to remain vigilant. If you develop symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea or unexplained bleeding, seek immediate medical care. Early treatment saves lives. The Ministry appreciates health workers, communities, partners and all Ugandans for standing together to protect our nation.
