@BBCBristol Perhaps BCC and other local Authorities could consider purchasing such relocatable homes for “meanwhile” sites?

@BBCBristol There are some new prefabricated and modular home manufacturers that could be put on these sites even if only for 5 years or so before they are moved to next site Usually made from timber they use ground screws ( think big wine corkscrew) rather than concrete foundations.

@TristanCorkPost @rwatmo Urban development is really hard compared with suburban and out of town/ greenfield. Lots of parties avoid this type of development now. Also a general feeling that any apartment developments are now high risk. Housing Associations generally don’t like apartment schemes either.

@rwatmo Possibly, although Bristol also has a huge amount of brownfield that’s been earmarked for housing.

I’m trying to think of the times in Bristol where the city said ‘no’ to big housing developments. The only one I can instantly think of was Western Slopes but that was a council-owned wildlife haven. Everything else has got permission, but developers just aren’t building them.

'We can't keep saying no to development when we've got a housing crisis' Housing Secretary Steve Reed spoke to #BBCBreakfast about plans to build homes on land close to railway stations in England bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@TristanCorkPost I’d suggest it’s usually 25%+ now given the softer sales market, lack of equity finance, supply chain vulnerability, inflation… There is very little pre planning finance available as well which means there is a future problem of fewer consented sites.

Homes only get built in the UK if everyone involved makes at least 20% profit. When that’s at risk, they don’t get built. Developers aren’t hit their own profits by building so many the prices go down. 👇🏼 bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-n…

@TristanCorkPost There HAS to be a way of accommodating and supporting venues like this AND the new homes the city desperately needs
