1 week ago I underwent MPFL reconstruction and loose body removal, ending my junior season. Tough setback, but just part of the journey. I’ll attack rehab, come back stronger, and trust God’s plan 🙏

TAPPS Division 1 - District 2 Central Catholic-San Antonio @ButtonAthletics Head Coach: Glenn Mangold 📝 2025 Outlook Central Catholic enters 2025 with a reshaped roster but plenty of intriguing pieces to keep them competitive in a deep district. Veteran head coach Glenn Mangold leans on a physical offensive line anchored by David Ramirez @DavidRam0617 to provide stability while a new QB gets settled in. Playmakers are in place with proven production on the outside. Defensively, the Buttons may lack experience in the front seven, but an athletic secondary and the leadership of Marc Luna @1marcluna at linebacker ensure that this group won’t back down. Central Catholic has the look of a dangerous middle-tier squad capable of springing upsets if their quarterback and defense come together. 🔥 Things to Like 🔹 Elite playmaker: At 6’3” with elite speed, Avin Houston @AvinHouston26 gives the Buttons a rare weapon who can change the game on either side of the ball. Already holding D1 offers, he provides a matchup problem for opposing defenses and locks down the back end on defense. 🔹 Proven offensive line foundation: Central Catholic traditionally builds around the trenches, and 2025 is no different. David Ramirez @DavidRam0617, along with veterans like Tomas Ervin @Tomaserv77 and Garrett Pardo @garrett_512, gives the Buttons a physical front that should create running lanes and protect whoever emerges at quarterback. 🔹 Depth at receiver: The Buttons boast one of the more versatile receiving corps in the district. Jack Hall @JackHall_2026 brings reliable production after an 8-TD season, Antonio Guevara @AntonioG2027 stretches the field with his length, and Camilo Reyes-Campos provides another option in the passing game. This group ensures the offense won’t lack weapons. 👀 Things to Watch 🔹 Quarterback competition: The extended battle under center has carried into the season. Junior Tristian Soto will get the first look but continues to split reps with senior Matthew McClenan @d1_matthew02. Until one firmly claims the job, building consistent offensive rhythm will remain a challenge. 🔹 Defensive front seven turnover: With only four defensive starters back, the Buttons face major questions up front. Linebacker Marc Luna @1marcluna brings toughness, and sophomore Mallen Mehdi @mallen_mehdi is a rising name, but the group will also count on the instincts of junior Matthew Hernandez, whose knack for being around the football seemingly leads to an interception every game. Freshmen DT Noah Reynosa will get the first crack to clog up the middle. 🔹 Navigating a crowded district: TAPPS Division I – District 2 is packed with playoff-caliber teams. Central Catholic has the skill talent to compete, but breaking into the top tier will require execution and quick development of younger contributors on defense. 📱 Player/Coach Accounts on X Abriel Garza @abrielgarza, 2027, DE/DT Alex Nelson @itzalexnelson, 2028, QB Antonio Guevara @AntonioG2027, 2027, WR Avin Houston @AvinHouston26, 2026, DB David Ramirez @DavidRam0617, 2026, OT Garrett Pardo @garrett_512, 2027, G gavinramos'27 @Gavin_Ramos27, 2027, OL/T/NG Jack Hall @JackHall2026, 2026, WR/DB Matthew McClenan @d1_matthew02, 2026, QB Marc Luna @1marcluna, 2026, LB Mallen Mehdi @mallen_mehdi, 2028, RB/OLB Tomas Ervin @Tomaserv77, 2026, OT Michael Kurfehs @CoachKurfehs, Coach #txhsfb #TAPPSFootball @TXPSMedia @TXPrivateFBGuy

🚨 2025 Season Preview 🚨 San Antonio Central Catholic TAPPS D1, District 2 HC: Glenn Mangold Team: @ButtonAthletics @AvinHouston26 @JackHall2026 @Tomaserv77 @d1_matthew02 @AntonioG2027 @DavidRam0617 @AbrielGarza @Gavin_Ramos27 @CoachKurfehs @itzalexnelson @garrett_512 The Buttons lost a significant number of key contributors to graduation last year and now enter the new season leaning on fresh leadership and emerging talent. Leading the charge is athletic and lengthy two-way standout Avin Houston, a defensive back and wide receiver who has already drawn Division I attention with offers from Colorado State and Hawaii. One of the biggest question marks for the Buttons is at quarterback. Three players, Tristan Soto, Alex Nelson, and Matthew McClenan are battling for the QB1 spot. McClenan appears to be the early favorite, bringing valuable experience from his time at San Antonio Brandeis. As is tradition with most Buttons squads, the offensive line is expected to be a strength. David Ramirez, Tomas Ervin, and Garrett Pardo all return to anchor the trenches. On the outside, Jack Hall joins Avin Houston and Antonio Guevara to form a versatile group of offensive weapons, giving whoever wins the quarterback battle a strong supporting cast. Defensively, the Buttons are bolstered by the return of tackling machine Marc Luna. The secondary will be a strength, with Houston, Guevara, and Matthew Hernandez providing speed and coverage skills in the backfield. Other key contributors on defense include Zach Mehdi and Abriel Garza, who are expected to play pivotal roles. Despite lower preseason rankings, don’t expect this Buttons squad to back down. With the district looking evenly matched across the top five teams, the Buttons have both the talent and the chip on their shoulder to surprise a lot of people this year.
