Marco Penge has cruelly been made to wait until the last tee time on Thursday to hit his first shot at the Masters, playing at 1.56pm UK time with Harris English and Si Woo Kim He will be raring to go, no doubt

Decisions, decisions. Amad Diallo was a penalty. That gets given as a free-kick anywhere else on the pitch. It’s even more a penalty than the Matheus Cunha penalty (which was a pen, however “soft”). Amad was just less theatrical. Penalty not given. Wrong decision. Harry Maguire was a penalty and red card. DOGSO. Penalty and red card given. Correct decision.  Understandable debate over the decisions and inevitable frustration for Manchester United. But United have benefited from decisions that go their way this season. All clubs have these issues, examples, frustrations. The main issue here is … 1) General standard of officiating in the Premier League. Amad decision was poor. Even more investment required in grass-roots refereeing, in fast-tracking talent, in training up academy graduates who don’t make it as pros, and in continued work to improve further the Select Group refs. PL has some good officials. Just need more. 2) Football belongs to fans, not officials. Fans deserve to know what is going on in real time. When decision/incident being discussed by officials, audio should be played live. The authorities don’t want to, feel it places too much pressure on officials so content themselves with brief explanation when announcing decision and clarification on PL Match Centre. Fans in the stadium and tuning in pay a lot for tickets and subscriptions, respectively, and shouldn’t be kept in the dark. Audio works well in rugby union and cricket (and acknowledging those sports have more pauses in play). l went to a VAR demonstration (not PL) earlier this week given by an elite official. Hearing the audio between officials gave insight into the process - and respect for what they are dealing with at speed, especially with players trying to con them.  You are never going to get complete consistency over decisions. There’s always going to be an element of subjectivity with so many incidents. But fans deserve more transparency and accountability. It might restore some trust. #BOUMUN

@lauriewhitwell @Ankaman616 Are there two worse players in the squad than Dalot and Ugarte Laurie? They offer zero contributions to the team. Also what’s your view on the time it takes Carrick to make substitutions in a game? Always seems to make them late in the half offer little time to influence games

#MUFC played well before red card, managed game with 10 men. Mainoo great knitting play, Cunha took responsibility for carrying ball. Bournemouth energy caused issues. Atwell the focus, by coincidence having refereed 2-2 at Turf Moor when Martinez goal ruled out for a push.

@CraigHope_DM Saying Carrick shouldn’t get the job because of charisma is a terrible take. Granted, being a ‘journalist’ for the Mail, I’d expect no less.

There is a lot to like about Michael Carrick. He’s done a very good job. But does that mean he’s the best man for Man Utd beyond this season? That long-term remit is very different to the short-term one he has carefully & cleverly navigated of late.

"Michael Carrick doesn't have the charisma to be Manchester United manager" 😳 Craig Hope looks at the future of Manchester United and doesn't believe Michael Carrick should be the long-term solution for the club 🔴

@Millar_Colin They’re everything that’s wrong with the club and the toxic culture that’s around it after a defeat. Hopefully this shuts them up for a week. #GGMU

Keane joked about Carrick's family picking the team for him. Neville said Carrick couldn't be considered under any circumstance as manager. Butt joked about Martinez getting murdered by Haaland as Scholes chuckled along. Excited for this week's soundbites from the podcast empire.
Colin Millar@Millar_Colin

Michael Carrick has managed four matches at Manchester United. Has beaten Unai Emery, Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola. Drawn with Thomas Tuchel. Remains unbeaten.

Aston Villa believe they have their own version of Sir Alex Ferguson and had Manchester United wanted to try to clone their legendary manager, then they surely would have made a serious attempt to take Unai Emery to Old Trafford by now Read more from @Matt_Law_DT ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/…

I love (truly love) how seriously people in the UK take Sports Personality of The Year award. The American mind cannot comprehend getting worked up about ESPYs, which is sort of the equivalent. But SPOTY is a real thing with a prestigious history! It's great to see this.
James Corrigan (never had a blue tick)@jcorrigangolf

I love SPOTY. It's the best show on TV! This is an affair that has at last been requited. Rory McIlroy is the best sports person in the UK. Cannot wait until next year!!

He’s in your head, in your head and Rory McIlroy should be in many fans' thoughts for #SPOTY. If the award is judged on individual brilliance, team contribution, resilience under pressure (putts/hecklers) and trophies (Masters/Ryder Cup), then McIlroy deserves to win. Shortlist⤵️
