The following preface to the 2026 second edition of Hussein Askary (Vice-Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden – BRIX) and Jason Ross’s (Science Adviser of the @SchillerInst Institute) report “Extending the New Silk Road to West Asia and Africa” was written in November 2025 by Professor Li Xing, who serves as Yunshan Leading Scholar, Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, Director of the European Research Center, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and as an Adjunct Professor at Aalborg University in Denmark. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), launched by China in 2013, is presented as the most inclusive framework for realizing such a grand transformation.
