The whole HS2 project is now expected to cost over £100 billion. Wales is helping pay for a railway in England, while missing out on more than £5 billion that could have been invested in our own railways, buses, roads and public transport.
This is how Westminster governments of every colour have treated Wales for generations.

Last week, HS2 lifted the final concrete section into place on the Chipping Warden “green tunnel” in Northamptonshire.
It is a 1.5 mile tunnel, around 65 miles from the nearest Welsh border, on the HS2 line between London and Birmingham.
Not one inch of HS2 track will be laid in Wales. Yet because HS2 is treated as an “England and Wales” project, Welsh taxpayers are helping pay for it while Wales gets no direct Barnett consequential funding from it.
Westminster still tells us that a railway from London to Birmingham, including a tunnel through fields in Northamptonshire, somehow counts as investment for Wales.

I understand why so many Black families seek out better neighborhoods and stronger schools for their children. But it also raises a bigger question: why are so many of those schools predominantly white? That didn’t happen by accident.
