RDR1, hands down, blows it's sequel out of the water when it comes to atmosphere. Most of the map is eerily empty and isolated. There's an inherent tragedy always haunting the narrative, like watching someone on their death bed, knowing the outcome yet powerless to stop it. A phenomenal Gothic Western.
